It is also clear to me that if the homosexual movement is completely successful, the world as we know it would cease to exist.
Homosexuals = human antimatter!
Yeah, Jamaica is full of racists, too, and Rastafarianism is just another form of hateful, homophobic Christianity. Oh, and reggae sucks, too.
You know, I'm about ready to just accept their vision of homos and start taking over the world. Fuck'em. If you can't join'em, beat'em.
Wow, that sounds a whole lot like what people on here write about Republicans on a daily basis! In fact, if you swap all mention of gays in that article with "Bush and his cronies" it would be totally palatable and not the least bit paranoid here on The Stranger!
Sigh. I like Reggae and Wagner. I've the musical tastes of a pot-smoking, homophobic Nazi. Someone please shoot me.
That e-mail doesn't work, Dan.
Why is it that people like Betty Anne always preface (or append) their bigoted remarks with "I love all God's creatures," as if that somehow makes the overriding insult more acceptable? I think it's basically an admission that on some level they know what they're saying is inexcusable and ignorant, but they can't resist indulging in the boilerplate blather they've learned from their "leaders." The only solution is to avoid these idiots whenever possible, which means no vacations to ____ (or ok, if you're really motivated, flaming the shit out of their e-mail addresses).
I doubt the writer is a Rastafarian - probably a more generic fundamentalist Christian. However, it is true that most - but not all - Rastafarians are rabidly homophobic. But I do like some of their musis, especially the dub and ska (maybe because there's oftentimes no lyrics), and I agree with their stance on pot smoking.
Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean nobody is out to get you... ;)
Try this one, Poe: firstname.lastname@example.org
Tom @ 4,
It's not paranoia since they really are out to get us.
This column could be read verbatim at the Republican Party National Convention and receive thunderous applause. Of course the attendees would have to take the cocks out of their mouths long enough to hoot and holler their approval, but that's another matter.
And didn't Tony Scalia go on an identical tirade at the Supreme Court?
Yeah everyone will become homosexual just like the black rights movement turned everyone in America black.
I think you're misunderstanding the girl Dan.
When she says "It is also clear to me that if the homosexual movement is completely successful, the world as we know it would cease to exist."
The highlighted should be "as we know it", which is not the same as the world ceasing to exist.
The world "as they know it" is one with clear gender roles for men and women and nothing else. So though she does actually say that they plan to take over the planet she didn't mean destroy all life on earth.
When people say "I love you but hate you" it drives me crazy. I think they say this to make themselves feel better. It sounds simple but really is hypocritical and overused by misguided minds. To denounce a group based upon misleading information and hatred makes others that like violence go out and do violence, adding to a larger problem.
So if you hate you are instantly promoting hatred you can not have it both ways you can not use the word love to soften the effect of what you are saying or legitimize it and make it ok. You are just making yourself feel compassionate but in reality you are not.
The word love has become an over used word and the trend by many is to throw it in most situations just to sound like you are a good person.
I love you. I generate hate about you but I love you. It is easy to over use the word love but the one using it really does not mean it. It is just tagged on.
This is part of a trend to make ones hate sound valid. Hate is hate don't tell me you love me too. Do not keep contradicting yourself.
I personally do not love people that promote hate against me. I reserve the right to use the word love under certain conditions that few people in my life meet. I do not like to over use it. I do not love everything and throw the word around just to make myself feel great or compassionate.
Some people we have love for and some we don't. If you hate, promote hate or add to it in any way then you give up the right to use the word love.
You can't have it both ways so stop lying and say exactly what you really mean without throwing around the word love.
It is ok to hate someone and ok to love someone. Just be honest about it. If you hate gays then say it. You might not be right but at least you are being honest with yourself. You get to admit you are hateful towards a group. Then you can look at yourself for what you really are without the bullshit use of the word love attached to your hate to make yourself appear good and compassionate.
That way we all can clearly "hate hate and love love" for what it truly is without the word love being misused for effect.
"I hate hate and I love love" (Jean Cocteau)
There is no Marvin County in California. I'm guessing she meant Marin County, right across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. A very impressive cherry-picked anecdote without any context.
Har har... I thought the best part was the 'blacklisting and starving entertainers'...
So I guess Ellen Degeneres and Chris Crocker are the reason for all the human stick insects in Hollywood, as well as the fact that we haven't heard from Charlene Tilton or Mr T in a while...
Hold Portia De Rossi upside down and shake her, and you'll find the keys to Angelina Jolie's and Renee Zellweger's sub-zero fridges. These poor starving women are drinking from the toilet and eating shoe leather, all because of the homosexual agenda!!
End the Gay Regime Now! Free the Size Zero 20!
yeah, that whole "i love everybody" line that christians toss out just before a verbal hand grenade is really, really fucking tired, and i call bullshit on it. it's nothing more than a "get out of being an asshole free" card, and they should all be required to explain at length exactly how they define love, and why they feel so compelled to qualify their beliefs by saying it.
i especially love the way she equates homosexuals with slave traders. real classy.
and yes, reggae fucking sucks.
Fuck 'em. The easiest way to deal with Jamaica is to cancel any vacations there. Their economy is tourism, sugarcane, and aluminum, and the later two comprise a whopping fifth of the economy. If Americans and Europeans stop visiting Jamaica and choose a more gay friendly tropical paradise, Jamaicans had better start hoping they can eat homophobia, cause they're gonna be starving otherwise.
she only "loves" the gays because of "love the sinner, hate the sin".
eventually, this illogical, willful ignorance will lose out & the world as we know it WILL cease to exist. in fact, the world as we knew it 1 second ago has ceased to exist already. thank the buddha.
Andrew (@ 11)-
Yes, they really are out to get us. In fact, everyone's out to get us. You in particular. The CIA is listening to your perrsonal phone calls, Bush and Cheney want to put you in prison at Guantanamo because you're a terrorist, and random idiots from small island countries want you to kill you. Didn't that guy at 7-11 look at you weird today? Maybe he's in on it. Oh shit, maybe you shouldn't go outside any more...
I like the idea of boycotting Jamaica as a vacation spot.
Tom @ 20,
Nice pitch. With charming and witty banter like that, it's amazing that more of us aren't misanthropic, self-hating, closeted Republicans. Praise!
1. A boycott of Jamaica and Jamaican products, foods and travel and cultural events is needed. They depend heavily on tourist dollars. Boycotting travel to Jamaica is a great way to hit them where it hurts. Add to that a boycott on reggae music, etc. that is produced there.
2. Where in the hell does this author (and others like her) come up with the nonsense that there is some organized effort to "homosexualize" the world? This nonsense is based solidly in the notion that homosexuality is a learned behavior and not an inborn trait. In a very hypocritical statement, the author of this piece says that homosexuals are "part of God's creation" and that every person has a right to their sexual preference. OK.... so if that is the case, then what is the problem?
3. Who is "force-feeding" homosexuality? NO ONE! If demanding equal rights and protections under the law is "force-feeding" then perhaps black Jamaicans should be returned to the sugarcane fields as slaves, the plantation owners brought back in to exploit them and Jamaica's independence from Great Britain should be recinded. Wasn't it "force-feeding" when black Jamaicans stood up and demanded their own equality? Wasn't the freeing of the slaves and independence for Jamaica the "end of the world as we know it" from the perspective of the slave-owning plantation owners?
4. Why does it have to be that one group's liberation is a threat to another? Would someone please ask this person to explain just how equality for gays and lesbians will bring about the end of the world? Sources and citations, please.
Why do such people have so little faith in the appeal of heterosexuality? What they're really saying is "Being gay is a choice -- that everyone would make if they could."
You're right. I can't talk much now though, I've got a cock in my mouth (@11).
Ahh the irony of blindly intolerant people. And we all thought conservatives had a monopoly on that!
It's always chapped my ass when people make remarks like "I have no problem with gay people, so long as they don't SHOVE IT IN MY FACE" or, as this particular idiot puts it, "force-feeding." One would assume, from the righteous indignation and disgust, that they are referring to some sort of forced oral copulation, or being compelled to witness Actual Gay Sex Acts, but no. What asswipes like this are referring to is being forced to admit that gay people, well, EXIST.
I've had people (not knowing that I am not actually a Straight White Member of the Taliban Wing of Christianity myself) say such things when they were forced - oh the horror! - to see a co-worker's same-sex partner's picture on a desk, or an acquaintance casually mentioned having gone to dinner or on vacation with their same-sex partner. Apparently, that constitutes being "force-fed" Teh Gay, or having it "shoved in one's face." Never mind that damned near every straight person in the galaxy has a picture of their partner, brings their partner to company events and outings, mentions them in every other breath - hell, those who think it constitutes some sort of masculinity will regale one with actual graphic details of their Wild Weekends With Girls Who Put Out and the like. But let a gay person even mention that they are not living the life of a celibate anchorite, and suddenly, you're foisting your Abhorrent Homosexual Lifestyle (tm) upon their poor innocent psyche.
Plus I've never been able to get the idea that gayfolk want the entire world to be gay. I ask you, does anyone really WANT to find out that Dick Cheney likes having his pole smoked by sweet hairless young twinks? Hell no! The straights can keep him and all the rest of the doughy, ugly, unsocialized assholes of the world.
Homophobes always seem to have this idea that gayness is so irresistible (as a choice, of course) that if the innocent young are exposed to it at all, ever, they are permanently gay thereafter. Tells you a whole hell of a lot about why they're all so obsessed with buttsecks...clearly, once you go round the back way, there's nothing to compare.
I just don't get how some people's brains work. It's like their science base stopped at Aristotelian logic.
Tom @ 25:
Your intollerance of my intollerance of your intollerance is so ironic, I can barely keep my head from es'ploding!
I don't think I had a first intollerance. Lol
Yeah yeah, keep beating up on developing countries for being backwards.
Also, you shouldn't go to Jamaica anyway, you exploitive yuppies.
OH SHIT THEY'RE ON TO US
We are homoborg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile. You will be adapted to service us.
So tell me, Jay, how is it that poverty forces one to be a bigot? While you're at it, tell me why spending money and thereby supporting the local economy makes one "exploitive."
Read a Jamaican newspaper any day of the week and you'll find a story like this. Yes, this lady is wrong, but most Jamaicans don't like Americans in general. The whole country is filled with rampant hatred. It has the most murders per capita, so don't worry, they're killing themselves off. (Sarcasm)
I love Jamaica, and Jamaicans, and after living there for several years something like this doesn't even seem silly. Some other things I heard when I was there... Bush sent guns to Jamaica so the black men would kill each other, America sent all the crack so Jamaicans would get addicted, and so on.
The real solution here is education. Unfortunatly more than half of the Jamaicans in the world don't live in Jamaica. Once they get some money they leave to escape all of this hatred and oppresion.
Love and hate in the same sentence? Unfortunately, that aptly describes my relationship with this beautiful country; love and hate! I have been to Jamaica -MoBay and Negril - 5 times in the last 6 years and even opted to spend my 50th birthday (2/26/56 on the same day Jamaica elected their first female prime minister) on the idyllic Doctor's Cave Beach. I will probably take my nephew there for his 12th birthday in '08. However, 4 out of 5 of those previous visits were with either a gay friend or my (ex) boyfriend. On none of those visits did I/we ever feel threatened or harassed in any way, however, I should add, I/we are not your stereotypical or traditionally "recognized" homosexual harassment magnets. (In addition to the standard offerings of weed, taxis and hair braiding, female services were offered to us on a regular basis.) We came, we vacationed, we left. I have asked myself if I am a hypocrite choosing to vacation in a place that offers up oppression, discrimination and death to those like myself. But I don't go to Jamaica for my "gay pride, flag waving experience"; I go to soak up the sun, enjoy perfect beaches, a rich history and culture, drink some Red Stripe beer, eat some jerk pork, smoke a little ganja and dance to some reggae. I respect the cultures and practices of the places that I visit and my boycotting Jamaica because of their practices will not have an impact. I celebrate my gay pride every second week in June (here in DC) in a country that (for the most part)accepts me for who I am and is tolerable of my existence. There's a reason why Jamaica isn't listed as a gay travel destination, so take heed. I'll go back to Key West or Puerto Vallarta or San Juan to have my 'gay old time!!' My two cents.....
thats the best comment out of all the mostly anti Jamaica junk I've read here.
Kudos to you my brother
Thanks, mon. Respect!!
Love the masturbator but hate the masturbation
Batshit crazy. Obviously you can't handle the weed over there. Must be some pretty potent shit. Unless you're lacing it with something. I don't know what the hell else would prompt you to write something as absurd as that.
Sponges? And I didn't even know that homosexuals had the power to make the world cease to exist as we know it. I'm sufficiently impressed.
