Theater Implied Violence on the Death of Pike/Pine

It’s not official yet, but the good folks at Implied Violence have sent us advance word of a new “huge and extremely guerilla” show called the status of the name you miss, love, and search for has now become ambigious and remote.
It will begin at “promptly at 1:30 am” on December first on the roof of a building near the soon-to-be-demolished Kincora/Pony/Bus Stop block:
There will be 333 free tickets that will get you into the building and 66 tickets costing 10 bells that will allow you on the roof.
I think it will be a really cool really beautiful event, considering most of the people participating were/are still actual residents of the building.
Implied Violence, which claims Gertrude Stein and Wu Tang Clan as its primary influences, makes spectacular work. They’re threatening to move to Berlin sometime in the near future, so your chances to see them are dwindling.

Getting the 66 rooftop tickets will be a slightly cloak and dagger affair that involves going to a certain crepe stand at a certain time on a certain day—IV says it’s “trying to avoid the problems of the Bridge Motel“—but more about that when the show is official.
Intriguing.
Meanwhile, mattresses, furniture and all that other crap from the Bridge motel two months ago just sits rotting in the parking lot. Way to go artists!

Kiley is on crack. Implied Violence are the worst kind of boring hackneyed and totally pretentious performance art bullshit this town has ever seen. I know that they're just trying to make their audiences angry with their pretentious "you won't understand half the shit we're gonna do!" statements, and well, they've succeeded: I hate them. But I cannot understand why Kiley has fallen for their bullshit. Then I remember that this is the newspaper that gave Seattle School a genius award...
Fucking tools. I'm so over this scene.
Is IV pretentious? Yes, but that isn't always a crime.
Is it boring? Sometimes. Comes with the territory when you're doing that kind of work.
Is it hackneyed? No way—IV is far more ambitious and interesting than Seattle School (I wasn't around for that year's Genius Awards and I don't think I would've endorsed them).
Sorry you hate them, M, but they're good at what they do. You might not like that kind of performance (which is reasonable—it is sometimes boring and pretentious), but that doesn't mean they don't do it well.
This has me wondering: can you tar & feather an entire block of buildings?

(a) Why do you think they're good at what they do? For that matter, what do you think they're trying to do? bore the audience? piss them off? Make them wish they'd spent their money elsewhere? (I'm not asking these facetiously. I have often thought that these were EXACTLY what IV was trying to do. Their program at their most recent OtB performance made it clear they don't care about the audience at all.)
(b) Even if they're good at what they do, this does not mean they're doing good art. Imagine an "artist" whose art consists in the person sitting in a theatre and surfing the net for 3 hours. If that's what they set out to do, they can be very good at it. But as art, it sucks.
By the way, I'm not against performance art that involves mess or noise or randomness or things that are unconnected to each other or pieces that lack narrative or anything like that. But having mess, noise, randomness, etc. by itself doesn't make the piece good. Some non-conventional performance art is at least entertaining, or makes you think, or takes you somewhere you weren't expecting to go, or SOMETHING. IV just bores you and makes you think, "Great, another bunch of Cornish kids trying really hard to stand out from the crowd and they just end up re-inventing the wheel. BOOOOO-RING!"
