i've never been over east of the cascades, but i've heard it's kinda conservative, or has it changed at all (for the better or worse)? let's hope this doesn't turn into another matt shepherd (sp?).

Look up on google the info about the kid who died. It seems he was both a wrestler and a football player. You wonder how strong/insane a guy could be to overcome a kid like that. Maybe he hit him over the head first? How absolutely tragic for his parents. And how very sad for the kid driving the truck: he must have been scared for his life. This will haunt him forever. It's like a bad horror movie.

Thanks to idiots like PETA and a lot of other fringe anti-hunting groups, it's now illegal in most states for someone to disrupt a hunt. Don't know Washington law on that subject, but if that's the case, the guy got what he deserved. Hell, you'd have to be pretty damned crazy to take on a bunch of guys with guns using only an axe in the first place. Sounds like a recipe for a REALLY bad day.

According to the report on the news last night, Sturman-Camyn was partying with everyone, and got belligerent. I hadn't heard about the axe, but he did threaten various people (cut to various friends of the deceased saying how he was really into fighting). Sinn then somehow overpowered him, tied him to the truck and yelled at the 17 year old to drive out of there as fast as he could.

I really don't know how bad I feel about a guy threatening people with an axe getting killed - although that's a nasty way to do it - but Sinn should certainly be responsible for causing someone else to unknowingly do the deed.

First, all of them were hunters at the same camp. The victim was not anti-hunting.

Second, there is a difference between threatening to use an ax on somebody and actually picking up an ax and making that threat--the reports are unclear on this issue.

Third, the reports the victim was dragged to death are premature--those comments were allegedly made by somebody in the local Sheriff's Office but there is nothing in the report saying that a definitive autopsy had been performed and the cause of death identified.

Sheesh, people, give it some time to get out the facts.

Nov. 15,, the state of washington appealed the dismissal of charges against Jerid (not from subway) in this case. from the spokesman-review:

�Whitman County Superior Court Judge David Frazier dismissed felony burglary charges May 19 against WSU students Jacob Sterling Houvener and Jerid Sturman-Camyn. Frazier said the students had a "reasonable expectation of privacy in the corridor/hallway" of their dorms, and they had not waived it when Officer Matthew Kuhrt entered their hallway in February. Kuhrt was investigating a burglary that occurred on another floor in the same dorm tower, court records say. Defense attorneys argued he exceeded his authority when walking the other floors in the dorm. The case is under appeal.

I gotta wonder if Roid Rage was a factor here? Seems the dead man was "out of control" and since he was into the Ultimate Fighting thing...ya gotta wonder if steroids "amped" him up. That aspect of wrestling is pretty notorious. He had the teenagers in camp (three of them) so freaked out that at least two of them were hiding in the woods at some point. Freak show apparently!
The only ones that were intoxicated were the dragging victim and his Dad.
His was the only Dad that was allowing his son to drink, they were both highly intoxicated on hard liquor and beer. The others were not. I'd hate to carry the guilt the "victims" Dad should have for his cuplability.
They were fighting and the dad was antagonizing his son.
Sad tragic deal.

Your main problem is this: Most, if not all of you, have allowed spotty reporting on initial disclosures to cloud your judgment.

Most responsibile, informed adults who know something about how the media works and understand it's better to hold the tongue until investigations are complete.
