Look, he's hot as fuck. If you can hook us up, and film it, we can take care of him, and I can get what I want.

He’s charming, he’s super-Christian, he plays in a rock and roll band, and he apparently has a sense of humor.

So, basically he's Bob Roberts.

That's alarming.

Nah. Huckabee had an easy time of it for a while because he wasn't a real contender. Now that he's becoming a threat, the other candidates will start the real mud-slinging.

It's worth checking out the Wayne Dumond case before you say that Huck's scandals are "almost all money scandals." Google Wayne Dumond.

Bob Roberts is ugly and retarded.

Also, I didn't say that, Paul. "Mr Me" did. That doesn't even sound like me. Correct it, please.

Why are you so scared of an evolution-denying Red Bushie who believes that we should all die a fiery death in a global thermonuclear war fought over Isreal?

It's not like ... oh, wait, I forgot, we do have someone like that in the WH.

Never mind.

I was just chatting with a friend about how a Huckabee nomination could be the one that could possibly contend against Hillary, considering he's got the one thing that rallies conservatives more than a Hillary nomination--a theology degree. It's kind of the only instance I could see Obama being an actual contender.

After watching (and being seriously creeped out about) the Republican YouTube debate the other night, I don't know, though. Huckabee comes across as a little not-so-manly. Kind of like a muppet meets Kevin Spacey.

Hee. A muppet meets Kevin Spacey.

We need to register as Republicans and vote for the least votable Republican candidate in the primarys. Then in the main event vote for the democrat.

Kevin Spacey's taller.

How could he possibly get the nomination? Didn't he admit on live television to thinking immigrants are human? I can't even believe he's bothering to continue campaigning.

Here's what I'm looking forward to: Someone else (Rudy?) gets the nomination, Huckabee goes off to the newly-minted Christian Fundie party, Paul goes off the newly minted Tinfoil Helmet Party, and the whole right wing completely implodes.

Fingers crossed!

Sorry, Mr. Poe. Changed. Please accept my apologies. Although I do think you should threaten to dance little jigs a lot more often.

Like #14, Rick Hertzberg thinks Huckabee's lack of hatred for immigrants makes him a non-starter:

@12 - I live in Illinois and don't have to register in one party or the other. I've only decided in the past couple of weeks who I'd vote for in the Democratic primary... and in the past few days I've been thinking about doing just what you said and voting in the Republican primary. Who does everyone think that I should vote for, if I end up going this way?

Whomever gets the Democratic Party nod will be the next president of the US.

There are far fewer religious nutcases in this country than we're led to believe. Most religious nutcases I know know better than to elect one of their own.

Huckabee is the Ellen Craswell of this presidential election. We should hope for such and embarassing candidate.

It's not the Republicans' to win, its the Democrats' to lose. The momentum is (so far) with the Dems, so they just have to avoid their own mistakes or getting drawn into Rovian swiftboating undertow. No matter whom the Republicans nominate, the Dems have to be focused, efficient, and effective.

Good luck.

You have to admit that Huckabee has the ability to frame conservative principles in un-strident centrist language which makes him dangerous in a general election.

The question for the republican corporate elites is will Huckabee follow through on their rape and pillage agenda. He sounds too populist for them to trust him.

If Guiliani can't rehabilitate himself from his scandals, Huckabee may be their best shot in the general.

Yes, everybody check out the Wayne Dumond case. Huckabee intercedes to secure the parole of a convicted rapist -- who then rapes and murders two more women! It's quite a soap opera: vigilante justice, a corrupt good-ol'-boy sheriff, the loony Clinton-hating right wing, etc.

It seems to me that of the Republican nominees, Huckabee is by far the most likely to get caught in a gay sex scandal (he's a Republican politician AND a minister). With any luck, he might even get caught with a gay hooker before Iowa or New Hampshire have a chance to vote.

@23

No, we want the scandal to break after he gets nominated.

thanks, david @22, for the links. can you say "willie horton" everybody? and there are just too many people to back up this story, so plausible deniability is not an option for poor huckabee.

@ 20 - don't put it past the Democrats to blow the election. They seem really good at that, unfortunately.

I must concur, Huckabee is a threat. But so is Guiliani. I can totally see him beating HRC in the general.

Why? Ok, the nutcases that normally wouldn't vote for him do vote for him just to vote against HRC, then the "middle-of-the-road" voters who also hate her but find him palatable also vote for him and BAM we lose. Everyone tells me I'm nuts, but mark my words, it could happen. When they were both running for Senate in 2000 it was pretty obvious he was going to beat the pants off her, before he dropped out.

I was thinking about voting in the GOP primary, but can't find anyone I think is a)likely to win the nom and b)less scary than the others. I'm thinking Paul-he scares the shit out of me, but less so than the others.

question for all presidential candidates who hate taxes: "If elected will you pay for all you expenses (white house, air force one, security) out of your own pocket since you do not like taxes? Also, will you refuse to prosecute anyone who does not pay federal taxes?"

Why does everybody think Matt Taibbi's piece on Huckabee in Rolling Stone was so flattering? It's called "Our Favorite Right-Wing Nut Job" to begin with. Paragraphs which begin with the likes of "Huckabeen gave an even more damning glimpse into his inner batshit self" can hardly be construed as a "big, sloppy blowjob".
