I don't know how people sit through NBA games. 48 minutes of play that takes 2 1/2 hours? Soccer is 90 minutes of play that takes less than two hours.

And @4, I would add that, with basketball, frequently (well, unless you're talking the Sonics, that is) 2 hours and twenty nine minutes of that two and a-half hours is pointless, since a typical game is won or lost in that last minute or two of play - which of course gets dragged out for fifteen or twenty minutes of real-time what with all the time-outs and commercial breaks.

At least with football (i.e. soccer) one side can score in the first minute of regulation, and the other 89 minutes still matter; and no wussy time-outs either.

MLS is a sport that hipsters can embrace without feeling like "sports fans." Basically, it's a sport for people who don't understand the infield fly rule.

If any MLS fans can explain the infield fly or "tuck" rule to me...I'd love to hear it.

I'm a MLS fan.

The infield fly rule is a restriction placed on the basemen that states when a ball is hit in the infield, and there is force out at third base, the batter is counted out. This is to prevent the infielders from "accidentally" dropping the fly to get an easy double or triple play.
