Comment by Fnarf

You don't understand how baseball works. He hasn't tested positive, so as far as baseball is concerned, he's not guilty. He'll be playing for the M's next year, taking up roster space from younger, cheaper, better players.

Amusingly, the Mariners, one of the league's most moralistic, family-friendly franchises, seem to have been a hotbed of steroids use a few years back -- not to mention domestic violence.

@1: All well and good, but Guillen isn't a sure thing anyway. You have heard my prediction. (And, by the way, I am NOT saying he won't play anywhere.) Let us return to this matter in a few months.

1. Actually, he probably won't, Fnarf. The Mariners declined his option. He could exercise his end of the option and come back IIRC, but given the M's turned their back on him during contract talks AND declined their end, highly doubtful. Someone else will hold their nose and takes a nice $8-10 million flyer on him. Most baseball teams are run by foolish men.

Comment by Sir Vic

Funny how Guillen has bounced around so many teams in the past couple of years.... much like Canseco did the last several years of his career. Maybe the guys that are so blatant about their use of juice do indeed get black-balled, as Canseco has suggested.
For the seamheads out there, do a little "6 degrees of separation" and look at the teammates that Guillen has had over the years, and how many had sudden power surges the next season. With Canseco, you'll see a pied-piper type of effect. The guy should be in the Hall of Fame just for the way he changed the sport.
