Tech Give One Get One

onThe ever-controversial “$100 laptop” (now only $200!) is now available through the “Give One Get One” program.
For $399, you get a weird new laptop for yourself, a $200 tax deduction, and a second laptop is sent to “empower a child in a developing nation.” T-Mobile will also give you 1 year of free access to their goddamned HotSpot network—a $350 value, by their loose definition of that word.
Considering that these things are waterproof—and presumably coffee-, juice-, and donut-proof—we might just have to get a few of them for Stranger staffers.

Isn't part of this a tax deduction too?
Cool!
laptops or alien robots? hard to say.
i'm getting an eee pc, myself.
Does anyone know what the HELL the Hot Spot thing is supposed to do anyway?
@4: What do you mean? It gives you access wherever T-Mobile has taken over the internet, e.g. Starbucks, many airports, etc.
Damn you, T-Mobile hotspots! Why is it you can get free wifi at McDonalds and the Safeway deli but not Starbucks?
if you want them for the Stranger staff, i'd make sure they were bong-water and bourbon proof as well.
@6 - and most cafes in Fremont, where all the coffee is good, organic, and fair trade.
Ignore Hamstaville - that's my house and I don't share Net.
Wow! That computer looks cute! Does it really work?
Do you?
@6 -- coming soon...
