Freed Beams, Rolling Barrels, Dumped Bricks

The stomach-churning pleasures of visual poo metaphors, as found in the latest All-Bran commercial.

Slate weighs in here. (And thanks to MetaFilter for the reminder.)

I laughed 'til I crapped when I saw that ad on tv. It's just enough to make you actually watch and say, "did they really just...?" but it's not actually disgusting in any way. I mean, they didn't pour cement or anything... that could've been gross.

I've either only been seeing a "clean" version of this ad or I'm a very oblivious person.

It works. It's not like they're going to come right out and say, "Eating this cereal makes it easier to take a shit." (Though perhaps they should.)

This is the best stuff in the world - I have never met anyone in the city who should not eat a box a month.

The Stranger staff, no doubt, need it even more.

WE ALL lack fiber in modern diets, and can use the vitamins and minerals as well.

Of course shitting is just a joke to those who are still in high school.... or think they are

EAT All Bran, feel better, fuck better, suck better, work better, sleep better, better, better .....and so forth.

Good commercial, the DUMP truck ... BROWN refuse rolling out, could be better with the construction guy squatting a bit at some point.... emitting a big sigh.

I expect the next All-Bran ad will feature a woodcutter... dropping logs, brown bark shooting out of a woodchipper, and raising one end of a beam of wood.

Wait, that last one is for the Viagra commercial.

A friend of mine's doctor told him, "All you need to do to take care of yourself is wear a seatbelt and take Metamucil. Do these two things and you'll live to be 100."

Okay, I've been seeing this commercial a lot and until this post I could not figure out why they kept dropping stuff in the background. I knew there had to be a meaning or point to the background activity but I didn't get the poop metaphors until now.

Suddenly, this commercial is funny to me. Thing is, I pride myself on getting subtle humor I just didn't credit tv advertisers with that much wit.

Nicely played.

That All Bran ad reminds me of a very old Saturday Night Live fake commercial for a cereal that was mined because it was made of rocks, the product was called "Colon Blow".
