the surge IS good in the short term. less people, both murkins & iraqis, are dying in iraq.

that does not excuse the macro crime of the war, or even come close to "victory" or "freedom". it has just dampened teh violence for as long as we can overextend our cannon fodder.

Another reality: If the War in Iraq had been successful; no one would be questioning the morality of the attack by the US. Think about that for awhile. It will make you scared.

There's still plenty of reckoning to be done over this awful, tragic mess. Just wait.

Remember Mitt's dad? A credible candidate running for president, he went to scope out Vietnam, returned and announced he had been "brainwashed" by the generals. That was the end of his political career.
