Countdown to Election Day: Where’s Dino?

posted by on November 5 at 13:18 PM

Still feeling like gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi hasn’t taken decisive stands on any of the ballot measures that voters themselves have to vote on in the next 24 hours, I sent off this e-mail to his campaign spokeswomen last week. I haven’t heard back yet.

From: josh@thestranger.com Subject: Propositions Date: November 1, 2007 11:24:03 AM PDT To: jill@dinorossi.com

Does Dino know how he’s going to vote yet on:

Prop. 1 (roads and transit)
4204 (simple majority for schools)
8206 (rainy day fund)
67 (insurance claim rules)
960 (two thirds for tax increases)

I have a good sense of where he is on most of these, but I’d like to hear his thumbs up/thumbs down for certain. Election day is less than a week away & I believe that someone who wants to be the governor should be able to say definitively how they will vote on major measures that voters themselves must say yes or no on as well.

Thanks.

Josh. Dude.

All season you've struggled to cover Valentino Rossi and you've gotten literally nowhere. You're still calling him "Dino" instead of "Tino." Which nobody calls him anyway, but whatever. And now, with the last MotoGP race of the year was run yesterday, you're asking where he has gone?

He's DONE for the year, Josh! He came in ranked third, and he went home. The end. Se you next season. For crying out loud.

And you're shocked, just shocked, that you haven't heard anything from Dino? C'mon, empty suits have no opinions about anything important. Perhaps after he's confered with his handlers, he'll have something to say -- like "maybe" or "it depends" or "I'm not running for _________"

Dude, we all know, that like most Republicants, he'll lie about how he will vote or has voted.

So asking him is a waste of time.

It's not in Dino's best interest to express an opinion on elections that are an entire 12 months before the ones that really matter to him.

Why should he risk falling into a trap now, when he can just wait until October '08 to risk falling into traps?

The question this time is: will Gregoire start calling Dino on his quiet bullshit earlier this time?
