Conclusive Proof That Seattleites Are Too Nice For Their Own or Anyone Else’s Good

posted by on November 6 at 9:45 AM

This just in from Hot Tipper Old Greg:

I was riding the #44 Metro yesterday through the University District where a woman on crutches got on and sat across from me at the front of the bus. She began clipping her fingernails, which is gross enough in itself. What really got my gag reflex going was when she went for a second pass and one of the fingernail clippings flew off and hit one of our fellow bus-riders IN THE FACE. The worst part is that neither of the parties involved said anything—no apology and no confrontation. Are Seattleites way too passive? Yes.

What's gag inducing about clipping fingernails? Sure it's not cool to do it in that environment, but gag? Seriously? And tipping the Slog and not confronting any of the parties involved in the Story is not passive? What a bunch of self-referencing bullshit.

@1... if you are going to be so critical about this posting maybe you should do it on another blog.

I feel weird just brushing my hair in public.

Old Greg? Some one is a Mighty Boosh fan!! Awesome!! I thought I was the only one here in Seattle. Mssr Greg, I salute you. The rest of you should do yourself a favor and go to Scarecrow and rent it. It is in the Britcom section, there are 2 seasons and it goes great with drugs!!!
Also check out Peepshow. Britcoms rule!!

Public finger-nail clipping is one of the most disgusting scenes ever. You can't control where the little bits will fly... ugh, just the thought makes me gag. Confrontation is not just important, it is necessary to educate the morons who apparently never received that little piece of hygiene in health class.

Why are so many people so poorly raised?

Both the clipper and the impactee should be shot in the lungs with BBs. Repeatedly. Until they get the message.

Same for all those passive bystanders. In fact, same for everybody except pit bulls.

That'll toughen up this community of wimps.

I would have said something and proudly taken the frosty glares from onlookers. I swear, people in this town need to man up and speak their minds.

One time I was riding the #10 headed out of downtown. A woman got on and sat down next to me. She started eating her smelly KFC meal in a box. When finished she said "Excuse me honey," reached over me and tossed a chicken bone right out of the windown in to traffic! I could do absolutely nothing other than sit there in total shock. People will do ANYTHING on the bus in this city.

Those blacks, with their chicken and their littering on the bus.

@1:

Thank you, my thoughts exactly.

Sure, the person hit with the Flying Fickle Fingernail of Fate appears to have consciously ignored the assault, which perhaps could be construed as P/A, but "Hot Tipper Old Greg" is being unabashedly P/A: A of all). for sending this under a pseudonym; B of all). for not having said anything at the time of the incident; and C of all). for passively-aggressively whining about someone else's apparent passive-aggression.

I say, "strike three - yerouttahere!"

Woo-hoo! The Boosh is back (third season, or "series three" as the Brits say). Starts, what, next week?

As long as it doesn't land in your eye or mouth, I don't see what's so scary about fingernail clippings....

Electro boy, do you have any way of watching the Boosh over here? I know BBC America shows reruns every once in a while but I have been forced to wait until the dvd comes out to see them. Do you have a super sattelite or something? If so can I come over an watch it? I will bring some hollowed out sandwiches and we can play crumb eye. Winner gets a rake!!

I don't mind the passive part at all! Yay, Seattle!

The passive/aggressive combo however is tired, that's all. (As I say this, ironically)
