I know that Colbert was a non-serious candidate but please everyone read this link to the Guardian. Seriously read it please.
We have enough to worry about in regards to 2008. We don't need Colbert fucking it up by turning it into a big joke. It's already a joke. Our parties candidates are busy attacking each other over and over again, cheap shots and "I'm better than they are" rhetoric is elementary enough. Say what you will about the intentions of Colbert and Comedy Central, but this isn't anything but detrimental to the race.
His campaign is also completely illegal.
Well there's that, too.
@3
If only all campaigns could be as explicitly illegal as SPONSORED BY DORITOS!
(insert, Sponsored by Oil / Big Pharm / Gun Lobby, etc)
I haven't read much about this, but if he is going to stay in character, shouldn't he run as a Republican?
He's running as both. It's one big fucking joke.
You can't be on the ballot. No appeal.
Hmmm....sounds like South Carolina.
I would have voted for him if he hadnt decided to be both democrat and republican. I can't vote for a democrat! i mean come on!!!
I don't think it's that he's not a serious candidate.
It's that he's not a serious Democratic candidate.
If he wants to run with a platform that more closely matches the Republic platform, then he should register as a Republicant.
I was more concerned about the show. After a week of his broken wrist, I wanted to snap the other one.
Fuck South Carolina. I left there and never looked back. Colbert deserves to be on the ballot there more than anywhere...talk about one big hellhole of a joke. Anyone who thinks any of the asshats who ARE on the ballot are going to save you, then move your asses over to SC and enjoy all that our great two party system brings.
Charleston's nice.
If he were serious about being a fake right wing pundit, he would ONLY run in the Republican Party primary. Running as a Dem makes no sense, except that he knows no Republicans would vote for him and he wants attention.
Yeah I guess. I especially love touring the old slave markets, the plantations and hanging with the bluebloods who wanted to make HIV testing mandatory for all the performing artists who come to perform in the Spoleto festival. "Pretty" aint always "nice". And I lived there for many years.
The Republican primary is $35,000 v. the Democratic primary is $2,500. that is why he entered the Democratic one. you all need to watch his show. :-)
"If he were serious about being a fake right wing pundit..."
You guys say stuff that makes me laugh out loud sometimes.
Why yes, @13, it is. My mom lives there.
Nothing like a college town near the surf to brighten your day.
And as M says in @15, the old slave plantations are kind of cool to tour. Especially when the owners aren't white.
he can run as an independent with 10,000 signatures. i think he could get them. also, his campaign breaks federal capaign law if he exceeds 5000$ in spending. seriously, watch the show.
What about handicapped signatures from war vets missing their arms?
Do they count?
Colbert's a more serious candidate than Kucinich, and I presume the committee's letting him run. Come on, an elfin pixy sprite from Cleveland? How's he gonna win the nomination? If he were a serious threat to her, Hillary would eat him in two bites.
If I were Kooch, I'd stay in bed stroking the hair (etc.) of that auburn goddess he's married to.
Hey Will... which plantation is owned by non-white people? And by that do you mean Black people? Do tell.....
Jesus Christ, M, you are a crazyperson. You REALLY FUCKING HATE SOUTH CAROLINA. Got it.
But I still love Charleston and you can suck it.
Sniggles.... I HAVE sucked Charleston. Believe me..... but it's mostly either frat boys or bubbas, or "i'm not gay" republicans.. so I wouldn't recommend it.... unless you're one of the above. Truth: there is a lawyer there whose REAL name is Coming Ball Gibbs. And his friends actually call him "Coming Ball".... priceless. So YOU go suck it.
sniggles...u r cracking me up.... librarian are you? we must bond....
