Edwards is a populist, and I like him. The commercial isn't great, but it does convey his populist message.

I've always liked him him, and his wife, but that freeze frame at the end of the ad makes him look like a muppet. The ad plays a little cheesy here in Seattle, but then it's made for the midwest.

I don't understand why his poll numbers aren't higher. He's the only one (ok, besides Kucinich) talking about anything I care about.

#4: Crawl away quietly? Crawl away? Uh, no. I think there's something in between crawling away and using your family to gain sympathy voters while you leave your family (i.e. dying wife) while you're on the road doing countless interviews, debates, and appearances.

He could be a good husband and put his blind ambition aside while he is there to comfort and care for his wife.

Having had cancer myself, and lost friends and family to both cancer and AIDS, I can tell you that the only opinions that matter when coming to terms with how to deal are yourself and those close to you. No matter who dies, the family still have a life to lead. He is not a monster for campaigning while his wife is either undergoing treatment or dying, it is their prerogative. That doesn't mean I'm voting for him; compassion alone is not enough for that decision.

That ad was classic political cheese, but I like the guy alright. One of those guys was a dead ringer for Warren Zevon even.

@8 - His poll numbers aren't higher because his people don't understand how to use the media - unlike Hillary's people. Edwards has been endorsed by the Steelworkers and SEIU - the two biggest unions in the country - and who knows about it? Nobody. Last month Hillary was endorsed by the Bricklayers Union, and her people made it sound like a steamroller. It doesn't make a difference if he's talking about things you (and I, and the labor movement too) care about if his campaign doesn't get the message out. He should have hired Michael Grossman.

He doesn't speak for me. He doesn't support equal rights for gay people, just like the other dominant candidates from the democratic party.

He's just another Christian rich man trying to get votes from close-minded blue collar people in swing states.
