What the hell does Glacier need to strip-mine Maury Island for? There are gravel pits all over Puget Sound, and lots of them are much closer.
Because they can make more money by loading Maury Island onto huge barges and selling it anywhere - locally or around the world - to the highest bidder.
Sharon will be a highly impressive addition to the legislature. She is principled and exceptionally tenacious. She also knows a range of issues (environment, growth, budget, etc.) better than just about anyone.
I'm thrilled to have Sharon as my representative. She's shown that she knows how to get things accomplished, and with her down in Olympia we have our best shot at finally killing Glacier's attempt to stripmine Maury.
And by the way, the 34th District is not just West Seattle. It also includes Vashon, Maury, Burien, and White Center.
Nelson is going to be a Seattle rep who will take on transportation issues. Besides Ed there ain't many who do it. Go Sharon!
great choice. i hope she has no trouble getting the nod from the kc council, they can be a interesting bunch at times.
Is this the same Sharon Nelson who used to be on the WA State Utilities & Transportation Commission some 15+/- years ago?
