I was not happy when I first heard the news, but after researching a bit, it looks promising, so long as exchanging membership cards isn't too much of a pain.

FlexCar was GREAT at responding to issues locally since they were local. I asked if a car was going to be placed in the Wedgewood area and I got an honest answer that they were working on it and a few months later there was a car there.

FlexCar's customer service is STELLAR and the cars are all in really good condition. (there have been a couple of exceptions but still overall OUTSTANDING!!

I am worried a little though.

It would except Flexcar discriminates against the elderly. I couldn't see getting rid of my car and ending up in a few years without a car or Flexcar. I imagine that there are a lot of other older folks for whom Flexcar would make sense because they no longer drive much, but who find they are too old for Flexcar or will be in a few years so pass on it. Too bad, because it sounds like a good idea.

I wouldn't worry too much about a drastic change in service. I just moved to DC, which has both zipcar and flexcar. While I've only tried zipcar, they seem pretty much identical as far as I can tell. I have no idea if prices will be an issue or not. . .
