Cowards and charlatans.
I play the most minimal role in society and even I'm completely sick and sad over the war. Old news though, right? Blah.
Obviously these are just the phonies.
Who cares what they want.
no question mark
traitorous freedom-hating scum, the lot of 'em.
Cheney Bush should be impeached for lying to the Legislative Branch to get us into Iraq, and for setting up an illegal parallel pseudo government to gin up the falsehoods that got us in.
Cheney Bush should be impeached for using an illegal pseudo military force, Blackwater, in Iraq, and especially in New Orleans, in violation of the constitutional and legal principle prohibiting private armies - the anti Pinkerton act.
I want out of Iran now - rather to stay out of Iran now. We have screwed the Iraqi's and destroyed thier civil society and infrastructure. I don't want the Cheney Bush running our involvement in Iraq - but involved we are, and we cannot just leave -we have to do it the right way. First step? IMPEACH Cheney Bush.
Bring em all home.
Yes, they want out. But the second part of the lead says that they want to increase their troop levels in Afghanistan. Trade-off.
haha. that's so funny. I just posted a little thing about that too. I made a top ten list. http://www.shesheet.com is where I posted it. :)
Dan, this would just be a realignment. The proposal is that Marines would move from Iraq to Afghanistian, leaving mostly Army troops in Iraq, and allowing the Army to transfer troops from Afghanistan to Iraq. It's not like Marine leaders are calling for US forces to leave Iraq.
The Marines are needed much more urgently in Afghanistan, especially with whatever it is that's going on in Pakistan right now.
I'd rather bring them home, too. America needs more amateur gay porn, and the Marines have always been there for us.
@11 : haha amateur gay porn...you made me chuckle. thanks!
They don't want more troops in Afghanistan because they don't actually want Osama caught. They need Osama to remain free for now because a. they want to catch him right before the 08 elections or b. they want him to attack the US again so they can declare marshall law.
The conspiracy theories practically write themselves these days.
@13 The only problem with your argument is that they do want more Marines in Afghanistan.
GUSTAV MAHLER
Too bad for them that no presidential candidate likely to gain a democrat or republican nomination advocates full withdrawal with any concrete timeline. The Dems can't even commit to do it by 2013.
@16, and that is why I have stopped giving money to any Democrats at this point. As long as we are in Iraq I keep the check book closed. (Which will save me around $2500 this coming year)
And I will even be hard pressed to vote for a Democrat for the White House in November...very hard pressed...
@1. Cowards do not enlist in the military. Cowards in the Executive branch may misuse and abuse them (viz. Bush, G.W.)
Why do they hate America?
Why do they.....titter so?
@13:
Conspiracy-mongering aside for the moment, your argument doesn't make sense from a tactical perspective.
The justfication for shifting the roughly 26,000 marines currently serving in Iraq into Afghanistan, means they will also be bringing with them a large amount of air support, which would actually improve their chances of either capturing Ossama, or bombing him out of existence.
Secondarily, from a manpower utilization perspective it also makes sense to have a majority of one branch handling Iraq, and another Afghanistan, rather than mixing the branches up in the same country, since it means more efficient deployments can be achieved and more effective duty-rotations can be established.
Besides, the Army, which currently makes up the bulk of in-country force in Afghanistan doesn't have much in the way of air support; they essentially depend on the Marines & Air Force to provide that for them. And right now in Iraq, air support isn't really needed - it's just not very effective against the kind of on-the-ground urban insurgency we're facing there. So, having a few hundred Marine interceptors and attack helicopters sitting on the ground (where they are also potential targets of opportunity) isn't a very efficient use of resources. Redeploying them to Afghanistan on the other hand, where the mountainous terrain requires a great deal of air support to achieve tactical and logistical goals, actually does make more sense from a military perspective.
Except of course, that it gets the AF's panties all bunched; nothing like a little inter-service jealousy to muck up whatever level of efficiency the move might engender.
