What’s the Internet Version of a Page-Turner?

posted by on October 25 at 8:54 AM

A page-clicker? Anyway, this story—concerning internet love lost and found, a shameless sociopathic liar, and (tangentially but vitally) acclaimed sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison—is one.

It’s amazing, really. Read it now. (Thanks to Jake for the tip.)

Ellison's a "mystery" writer? Is that what they call science (or speculative) fiction these days?

PS. Yes, I know he's won a couple of Edgar Allan Poe Awards, but that pales in comparison to his 8.5 Hugos, his three Nebulas, and so on. His peers are Asimov, Heinlein, Bradbury...

His "real" bio

There're definitely some red flags about believability in this story, but it's a pretty amazing tale. Love, deceit, Dan Fogelberg message boards.

Ellison to me seems to be nothing more than a little fuck with a galactic ego. This paean to his "brilliance" wrapped around a ho-hum "there's liars in them there internets" story was difficult to choke down.

I don't even know what the hell that post is about ... and I got several pages deep into it.

And then there's always this one, which involves minors, which makes it exponentially worse.

Also, that photo of Janna St. James made me really, really sad.
