Politics Washington State Legislator in Potential Gay Sex Scandal

An alleged extortion attempt involving a state lawmaker and a reputed male prostitute is under investigation by Spokane police.Details surrounding the case remained sketchy Sunday, but authorities confirmed that it involves two-term state Rep. Richard Curtis, a Republican from the small southwest Washington town of La Center, and that there was some type of confrontation last week at Davenport Tower. The identity of the alleged extortionist was unavailable, though police confirm he is a reputed prostitute.
Curtis was meeting with his GOP colleagues at the Red Lion in Spokane, and other GOP lawmakers quoted assumed Curtis was staying at that hotel with them. It appears, however, that Curtis was staying across town at the swankier Davenport—closer to Spokane’s trendier nightspots (such as they are) and far from the prying eyes of his buddies in the gay-bashing GOP. As for Curtis’ record… well, it’s just what you would expect, given the news:
Elected to the state House of Representatives in 2004, Curtis has voted like a fiscal and social conservative. This spring, he voted against domestic partnerships for gay and lesbian couples. Last year, he opposed a gay rights bill that banned discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation…. [Curtis’] biography says he is an Air Force veteran and refers to him as a husband, father and former La Center city councilman. He is from New Mexico and moved to southwest Washington 11 years ago, the biography says.

I wish we'd get some of these closeted Republican gays outed here in MI. The best we can do is get a married Republican Attorney General who used slurs about gay marriage against his opponent the entire time he was screwing his secretary. I bet my existence made him do it. Good times, these.
Should be fun to watch all the Repub closet cases next September when they're here in MN for their convention.

Hmmm...I've only been to Spokane once, and I was rip roaring drunk, half a bottle of tequila drunk at the time, but I had a fantastic time at their tiny gay club. It was also the night I realized I'd marry my husband, and I drunkenly called everyone I knew to tell them so.
You gotta feel for Larry Flynt. He puts up all this money to expose the affairs of all the Congresscritters, and all the mistresses turn out to be misters. I doubt many Hustler readers want to see pics of Dick's tricks.
Spokane is hot, hot for the skilled cruiser. Nice small town guys come there every weekend looking for action.
It is the center for a 100 mile radius, fiscal, medical and night life.
And there have always been a couple of bars as well. Cold beers in the cooler, a toke or two and a place to go, let the party roll.

Maybe there is something in Spokane. I came out at Fairchild AFB way back in 1980. The guys from Montana always had a good time in town. Maybe people like Jim West and Richard Curtis think no one knows about Spokane so it doesn't matter who or what they do in the little town out on the eastern end of Washington State.
I echo that. I think it was Expo '74 and those amazing Belgian Waffles at that fair that made me gay. Oh, that and the hotties in my preschool. Ah, the formative years.
