Too Scary for the Public Intern?

posted by on October 26 at 11:19 AM

A Slog tipper thinks we should send the public intern to go live with this guy for a couple days.

I dunno. Seems like he’d end up in the guy’s freezer. Thoughts?

Definitely. Do it.

I think it would be fine, if he's upfront about the duration and the purpose. I think that will eliminate any potential freezer-destination issues.

slightly scary. if a person conveys his scary-ness in the text of an ad...

but also hot. i would love to see what the public intern would write.

Just make sure he lets him know his sexual orientation up front. It's okay! He just wants to know! For some reason!

What the hell is with the prep paraphernalia museum? I dislike public intern. Do it.

Oh, and don't forget to send a photo first. You know, for the kids' sake.

but it's in Kirkland....even if he IS 420 friendly!

I think it is safe to assume that public intern will not turn up in the freezer (since it is a mini fridge), but I'd keep a close eye on the lockers at 24 Hour Fitness.

He's an intern, many are probably lined up to take the job. I would also like him to send pics and updates of what the guy in the ad looks like, and what the hell is straight "acting"?
Does anyone else feel bad for the elementary kid and high schooler?

Reminds me of the first share rental ad I answered when I lived in DC circa JFK. The potential sharee asked me whether I wore boxers or jockey shorts. Clue

Does the public intern want to share a room (and his ass) with some creepy guy in Kirkland? Doesn't sound good to me.

i'm not sure how the intern would be doing anything "public" here...

isn't it silly how this is such a bad living situation, but the renter has so many restrictions? hello?

Don't do it! Public Intern needs to do things at the library. I'll e-mail my suggestions later, but don't make him live in a room with a ski display... PLEASE.....

I vote no. Public Intern is supposed to do public good.

I hate the public intern and it is our job as sloggers to encourage his "termination" by any means available. He MUST do it. Hell, he should be this guys slave-boi!

Send the public intern there to live with the guy? That depends. Let me see a photo of the intern first.

"If you are in a situation where you need a pic of me, the room, or the house before you are considered, you won't be considered."

No. This guy is insane. Public Intern shouldn't have to get raped, he's not even getting paid.

I say go for it, plus then we can figure out what this guy looks like, just don't forget a pic when replying to the ad, hopefully the public intern isn't too scary for the cats!

Please go through with it. What's the worst, all the slog readers will be watching/reading so if he/she ends up in the guys freezer, at least we'll all know who to go question/look for.
My only question would be, since they are 420 friendly, but do not allow smoking anywhere in the house, AND there is a grade schooler and high schooler in the place, where may one partake of the aforementioned 420? Does he have a shielded outside spot, or does he provide wind proof lighters?

I'm not getting a serial-killer type vibe from this ad, but this guy is definitely an asshole. Probably anal-retentive as well. "In a situation" where you might want to see a picture of the "straight" acting gay man you will be sharing a bedroom with and/or the living space is unacceptable? What a dick. I hope no one gives him the time of day for his unreasonable expectations.

I vote no. public interns stories crack me up!
the ad is toooo scary. . .the guy sounds like a total unreasonable freak. He should get one of those dolls instead of a live boy.
. . . A&C t-shirt display. . .WTF? that is too much.

What the hell? The guy demands a photo? Demands to know mode of of transportation? Does he need to bum rides to the gym or something?

"If you need to know more about the other people in the house then I'd say this place is not for you. Everybody does there own thing."

Then one sentence later...

"I will be very picky as to who I bring into this house"

Apparently he's the only one in the house allowed to be a tyrannical roommate Nazi.

@14 - I agree! And while this ski-loving-straight-"acting" fellow is part of the public, sending Public Intern to live in a private residence doesn't seem within the purview of the title.

Run, public intern! Run!!

I vote that the public intern responds, meets him in a public place and then takes a picture of him (with a black bar to protect his privacy) so that we can all see if we'd "consider" him.

I adore Public Intern.

While I love seeing Public Intern in awkward bizarre situations, this sort of falls over the edge into seriously creepy, and doesn't even loosely fit into the description of the purpose of Public Intern, no matter how much you stretch the definition.

I say 'no'. But also remember- if you do it - do not look scary for the cats sake.

Absolutely not. Unless it's the Hollister area - Kicky!

I think Papayas said it best:

"I adore Public Intern.

Public Intern is to help serve the public with their issues... not attempting to get a roommate.

"If you need to know more about the other people in the house then I'd say this place is not for you."

Outside of maybe drug den squatters, don't most reasonable people want at least a description of housemates before they cohabitate?

Also, the only way to act "straight" is to have sex exclusively with the opposite sex.

Agreed. Public Intern is for the public good.

I lived in a somwhat similar situation once. Intern, you'll only end up being accused of making the kefir improperly, drinking kefir you didn't make, then devolve into a guy who turns random plates and bowls 20 degrees away from their indicated proper orientation.

Please...at least send him for a meeting with this guy. I just want to see pictures of what this room looks like!! It sounds like 5 different department displays in a single room!! I'm really curious...just please...some pics is all I ask...an interview, perhaps?

OK, I know a guy who lived in this house for a little while. He answered a similar ad a couple of years ago. The place - and the straight "acting" roommate - gave off a creepy authoritarian vibe but he didn't think he was in danger. It was a very unpleasant situation, and he got out after a couple of months.

I'll bet it would make a great reality sitcom.

The public intern can stay with me in my 3 bedroom place for free and I wont put any of those requirements on him!

Waaay too creepy--Silence of the Lambs creepy. Don't you dare put the cute Public Intern at risk. Plus it's in Kirkland.

Does nobody else think that this ad is actually soliciting a new member for a porn website? The preppy backdrops are very hot-college-boy. The straight "acting" requirement: as in you'll be "acting" as a porn star for the delight of the site's paying viewers. You can't be in a relationship. As for the "elementary" and "high school" kids... remember this?

I can't help but think that the Public Intern might be doing something quite public after all.
