I thought that anti-incumbent fever meant you want the incumbent out?

Are you sure that "None of the Above" isn't on the ballot?

And if you’re going to trash your opponent—especially if you’re the incumbent—you damn sure better have an impressive record to back up your negative campaign.

Are you kidding? In general, politicians depend most heavily on trashing their opponent precisely when they have nothing else to run on. And they do it because it works. I don't even think I have to cite the most notable example of this in recent years.

Staff at the Stranger should be holding prayer vigils to keep their boy Timmy Burgess from going out drinking

Check out the "David Della case study" on the web site of the sleazy smear-consulting outfit that Della and Grossman hire to do shit like this:

http://www.fiftyplusone.com/

The same firm also represents such profiles in courage as Paige Miller and Bob Edwards. Hrmph...

Well, not to cut too fine a line - not only has Della been a seat-warmer, he's been a very dull and uninspired seat warmer. A wool blanket would have been a better incumbent. So he's playing the "race" card - newsflash - he has lost the "race."

why are you promoting his site?

The Stranger SUCKS ASS for endorsing that NIMBY, Uptight, Christian Right Conspirator. If you could not endorse Della you should have endorsed no one.

Just getting beyond the now infamous op-ed and the 11 year bankroll he received for his anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-woman propagandizing -- let's look at this guy. He is an anti growth NIMBY guy. People like Jeannie Hale have his ear for christ sake.

It's just wrong, wrong, wrong!

Burgess has a similar website up attacking Della, though, (ironically) it's mostly a defense of his right-wing record. Bottom line - the guy's way out there... in RIGHT field.

not to get technical about it, but:

Della - Bad!
Burgess - Good!

Is Della's new web site ADA accessible? I'm pretty sure Burgess's is:

Why doesn't Della fight as much as a council member as he does as a candidate?

Godden's a seat warmer. Why'd she get an endorsement? Someone get promised a job?

Much as I, too, would like to find an electable opponent for Godden, she's slow-moving, like Della, but for an entirely different reason. Godden is usually thoughtful, Della is just - well - slow.

Godden also resonates with a significant element of Seattle's population - those who have lived here all or most of their lives. It's an unpopular position to have these days, but it's still an important one and Godden seems to be trying to tie some lines between the Seattle of old and the Seattle of new. It's an imperceptible bridge but one which will do us all well.

Well...at the very least (and I mean least) the Della team is creative in their smear! This could be their ONLY redeaming quality!! What a dissapointment of a council member??!!

So Dan you vote in a city in which you don't live?

Wow, I was thinking the Stranger was like progressive and smart. So now you're all wrapped around a guy who made millions off helping sell a group the spews homophobic, anti-choice bullshit, but he's got more cred than Della.
So have you seen some of the stuff Burgess' firm actual produced for the CWA nutbags? You know, about the homosexual agenda taking over our schools, the dangerous notion of giving women choice is destroying the family? Why doesn't the Stranger ask Burgess to produce copies of all the materials his company developed for CWA? Share it with us so we can see.
Then maybe we can see who the real smear artist has been.
