The team owners had sought to send the case to binding arbitration and are seeking permission to leave KeyArena before the lease ends in September 2010. In his written ruling issued this afternoon, Martinez agreed with the city that the dispute revolves around the essential term or length of the lease. Doesn't Key Arena take a bath on the Sonics? Let them go if that's the plan. Just tell me where to go so I can wave a white hanky saying, "Toodley-do!"

Maybe the city will finally learn the lesson here and stop spending money on sports facilities wherein the teams who use them feels absolutely no obligation toward the taxpayers who built or refurbished them.
