Can't lying candidates still be prosecuted under libel laws?

Does it really matter if Craig stays or goes? Idaho will just send in an even more far-right psycho, and in three weeks the whole sorry episode will disappear down the National Memory Hole anyway.

All in all, I'd say this is a shrewd victory for Senator Craig who succeeded in perpetuating the hoax of his "resignation." This is the kind of "Fuck You" politics that's the norm today.

@1 Thursday's ruling doesn't prohibit a candidate from filing a defamation suit over another candidate's false and damaging advertising, although such suits can be difficult to win.

Has Craig spared some seconds to realize that maybe Idaho, oh good'ol Idaho, doesn't want him anymore?

Because...they don't. And they don't.

Here's hoping Larry Craig sticks it out through next summer. He'd be such a boon to Democrats...

This is what Idahoian Democrats need to do. PLEAD with Sen. Craig to not only stay BUT RUN FOR RE-ELECTION!!! The perfect storm would be the GOP having to run someone else against Craig in a primary race which costs the GOP money. Money that can not be spent on other campaigns. Even though the Dems pretty much have no chance of winning the seat such a primary race in the GOP makes the Republicans WASTE MONEY!!

So come out with me and say "Stay Larry Craig, and RUN RUN RUN for Re-Election in 2008!!!!!"

he he he he!!!

If you ask me--and you didn't--the citizens of Idaho have exactly the Senator they deserve.

"They've finally been caught in their criminality," Matthews continued, although he did not specify the exact criminal behavior to which he referred. He then drew an obvious Bush-Nixon parallel by saying, “Spiro Agnew was not an American hero."

I can't stop laughing.

Re: Chris Matthews plays Hardball w/ Bush

That's just the kind of Bush-bashing, America-hating tirade you'd expect from a leftist, moonbat, Che Guevara-fellating, communist faggot like Chris Matthews.

At some point in college, I stumbled across the fact that a number of senators make autographed photos of themselves available, and set out to try collecting them all. Larry Craig is one such senator: http://craig.senate.gov/photo.cfm. I think my copy is still sitting somewhere in the garage back home collecting dust.

Gigi: that link doesn't work. Could they have begun an effort to erase him from history?

I don't want Craig thrown out of the Senate because he wanted to suck some dick in a men's room. Tearoom sex isn't my gig, but liking it isn't antithetical to respectable public service. No, I want him thrown out of the Senate because he's a lying, motherfucking hypocrite who would condemn those who do what he does secretly. That's where the moral turpitude lies.

All the comments on the Chris Matthews article seem to think he's a left-wing hack. When did this happen?

Also, he apparently thinks that he came out as the clear victor during the interview with Jon.
