Well done, Mr. Savage, a much improved showing over your last round with Mr. Colbert (which wasn't bad, mind you, but this was definitely better).

Now, can we PUHLEEZE see the Jim Lovell interview? Today being the 50th Anniversary of the dawn of the Space Age and all.

I saw the wrong clip last night! What I saw was good!

Dan you did great...

I just want to announce that I'M NOT GAY.

What I want to know is whether the repartee was scripted or generally outlined in advance. If not, then I am even more in awe of Colbert's mental and intellectual acuity than I already was.

Dan was good, damn good. But Colbert was phenomenal in the way he played out the "logic" of his character's positions.

hmmm, have to say i disagree that craig is a hypocrite for voting anti-gay. rather, i think the entire "family values" party are hypocrites for ascribing a higher moral value to a married man who secretly chugs cock in a public bathroom than a man who chugs his boyfriend's cock in the privacy of his own home.

Dan, can you show me where I can find Larry Craig's voting record? Rumor has it that while, of course, he's a hypocrite, his voting record and general stance on these issues was rather moderate, at least for an Idahoan. (Idahoite? Idahoian? Idahoagasque?)

I'd love to be proved wrong; where can I get the info?

This is one of Dan's best appearances ever. Much as I sometimes dislike his rants on slog, he really does GREAT in these live venues, not an easy thing, I'm sure! Nice job, Dan!!

Fnarf, I would like to hire you to form all of my opinions for me, especially since you are clearly lacking in gainful (time consuming)employment. Well done.

Nice interview Dan. As always on the Colbert Report, the best guests are those that are able to make a salient point while still being able to acknowledge the humor that Steve pitches at them. You made good points and laughed at his jokes, which were indeed funny. MujahaQueen? Asoluetlyfuckingpriceless.

Dan:

For the record, when the Iranian state executes gays they are hanged. If gays in Iran are hung, that'
s a different matter altogether.

Fabulous job, Dan. I have no idea how you kept a straight face. Colbert was fucking hilarious in a rather accurate depiction of the stupidity of the right-wingers on this issue.

"MujahaQueen?" Awesome. Possibly even funnier than Margaret Cho's bit about "Al-Gayda." I love the "logic" that if you were saying Bin Laden is gay, he'd have to be protected by hate crime law.

@10: Did you just inquire about Craig's "general stance"? Awesome.

Anners @14: that was the first google hit plus a few minutes of cut-n-paste. Hardly time-consuming at all.

Fnarf, it sometimes amazes me how very impressed some people are by even the simplest of Google searches.

Not to disparage your skills in that arena...

Awesome.

I don't know how anyone manages to keep up with Colbert on stage. I agree, you did wonderfully, and better than your last time (which was pretty good).

Colbert seems to be a brilliant improvisational comedian. If I ever find out this is all scripted ahead of time, I'll be crushed. That you can keep up with him at all is amazing. I'd be so nervous that I'd end up completely tongue tied.

Great job Dan! Mazel Tov! Especially enjoyed the way you both brought Iran into the conversation, and using the "Iran is anti-gay so America and Israel should invade".

Dan you do great journalism, and as an apostate Christian you are the best anti-Christian spokesperson out there. It's tikkum olam again!
