It's also very suspect that he would root for the Mets. I don't know many New Yorkers who would root for the other NY team if their own team was not in the series.

Rudy can't get away with saying something like "With the Yanks out, I stopped giving a shit"--though that's pretty much how everyone in New York feels.

What a fucking fraud. There is NO Yankees (or Mets) fan who would back the Red Sox, unless they were walking single-file into a woodchipper. Maybe his third wife called on his cell phone during his oration, to clue him in on this.

That said, GO SOX!

Yankee fans do not root for the Bosox, Bosox do fans do not root for the Yanks, and only dumpy Long Island hausfraus root for the Mets.

It's that simple folks.

And as a Yankee fan, I am extremely pleased that all of the wagon jumpers are now affiliated with the red sox nation.

Always root for your coast.

Ah yes! Revenge for 2001 when Red Sox fans rooted for the Yankees in the World Series of Baseball, and New York was stricken with the curse of the Babe for the first time. Will it work in reverse?

Massachusetts has 12 electoral votes and Colorado has only 9. Plus Massachusetts might be a swing state for Rudy whereas Colorado is so conservative they will vote for any R on the ballot over any D.They won't 'work' for Rudy anyway (but that has more to do with his past support for gay rights and choice).

According to Frank Deford, sports commentator for NPR (and where I get all of my sports news); Boston is a franchise with a national fan base. So Giuliani is covering all his bases,so to speak.

This just in: Sports rivalries = teh dumb.

I bet half that shit's instigated by the teams and associations anyway. It's like these fake feuds between celebrities, but with less hair-pulling and "bitch, oh no you di'int." It has you all on the edge of your seats doesn't it? Savages.

Really.

What's so fun about this stereotyped sports fan behavior? The I'm-a-Yankee-Fan rap writes itself doesn't it? Does anybody ever think of trying to deviate from the script?

@7... Colorado has a Democratic governor, Democratic legislature, 1 Democratic Senator and 4 out of 7 House Reps are Democrats. In 2004 Bush only won the state by 4 points. Not as red as you thought, huh?

@7... Also, since when could Massachusetts possibly be a republican swing state? That's like saying Wyoming has a chance of going Blue.

And nobody in their right mind is a fan of the American League, that in its self labels rudy clinicly retarded

while you may be a fan of your team if its in the American league, the DH rule is designed to destroy america. By rooting solely on the basis of American League Rudy is advocating anarchy and lowbrow populism.

End the Madness kick the scumbag to the curb

He can make nice all he wants. It is not to be believed. Blindfold him and I bet he picks the Manhattan chowder every time.

@8: Thank you for the inevitable comment reminding us how dumb sports are. You don't like it so it must be bad! Good for you!

Next time try not to be a so predictable, ok?

I didn't say sports were dumb. I said sports rivalries were dumb. People love an occasion to pick a fight, no matter what it is. Like right now. You have a reading comprehension problem but chose to pick a fight anyway, even though you're clearly wrong.

Oh you predicted exactly what you wanted to hear? Good for you! Way to read my mind.

OK man. Your right, its the sports rivalries that are dumb. That's what sports need. Less rivalries!

Think.
