That didn't happen. Then, he was supposed to be back in the office (and doing interviews with the press) today, after going to court at 10 a.m. to find out whether prosecutors would move forward with charges. That didn't happen either. Instead, the court hearing was pushed to Wednesday, and McIver's still a no-show at City Hall. There are two meetings of the council's budget committee, which McIver chairs, on tomorrow's council schedule.... And please - chair of the SCC Budget Committee???? WTF. The guy is not bright enough, or qualified enough, for that role.

Isn't it also wrong to assume the worst, and to disregard the possibility there are unseen subtleties and degrees to this situation, and to preempt the findings of the court?

Because Seattle law dictates that someone has to go to jail on a domestic abuse call, it is easy to paint a stark picture of a blurry situation.

The guy was in jail Tuesday night, it was made public, and probably has some bigger things to deal with right now than a budget meeting.

As a former fierce political opponent of this man (who I found to be gentle on all occasions) I just want to say that anyone jumping on this early or grandstanding about it for their own political advancement is being an opportunist.
