Man, this story just keeps getting weirder and weirder. At the rate things are going, there should be several videos of Curtis doin' it on PornoTube in a matter of hours.

The thing is, this whole string of straight republican types getting arrested for having sex with guys makes me think that maybe all guys have sex with guys, and heterosexuality is a myth.

Hell, I've only ever had sex with guys. I've always figured some of them were off limits cause they were straight. Now I'm not so sure....

Posted by el ganador | October 30, 2007 4:56 PM

eh... i always thought having gay and straight as the two groups was kind of limited.

I just love the line "I was just trying to help him out."

How does getting a blowjob from him and then going back to his hotel room to make the beast with two backs qualify as helping him out?

There's also another article on this station's website called "Castagna tells his side of lawmaker blackmail incident" (http://kxly.com/news/index.php?story_id=15433) where one of their producers was e-mailing with Cody earlier today until about noon.

P.S. The password is: Schaunefreude. Actually, we need a specific schaunefruede word just for GOP sex scandals...

i don't believe castagna that he was promised $1000 for sex. hello?

and i don't believe curtis that $100 was for gas. hello?

i'm not sure who's worse in this story. castagna is not doing any public service by stealing and attempting to profit from this. if castagna had his way, this republican would still be closeted.

perhaps they were falling in love at an early moment, then it went sour?

that is what they all say?

By the way, in the discussion of gay or straight, how about the word biology. Mother nature always wins, and all males have very strong and insistent sex drives.

i'm not sure i believe cody one bit... but you got to love what he wrote (and i'm not making this up):

"Well I will say this Richard offered me money to engage in sexual acts I wasn’t into... I got the feeing he was screwing me and he was not only that he turned the whole thing around in his favor to save his butt and is screwing up my hole life."

we'll see if this screws his hole life or not.

Oh, the web of deceit that Curtis has spun all his life finally catches him and lights him up like a Christmas tree for all to see.

That muppet Castagna knew Curtis was a politician? What? Has he been trolling for politicians since the Larry Craig incident?

On a lighter note. Looks like Curtis bagged himself a Backstreet Boy from the pic. Congratulations should be given.

i was really hoping for some cross-dressing photos. i *heart* cross dressers with mustaches.

In 2001 Cody stole some guy's checkbook and went on a spending spree. That's what the forgery charge was for. He told all of us that this guy was his sugar daddy and that he had given him the checkbook and that he could spend whatever he wanted. We all learned later that was a lie. I haven't talked to him since.

So this deal with Curtis sounds a lot like that. Cody is very much an opportunist. He's been hustling people since he was a teen and when he gets busted he always tries to play the victim. He's a trashy mess.

Posted by monkey | October 30, 2007 5:38 PM

My guess is this guy found out Curtis was a legislator after he took his wallet. Curtis probably keeps his legislative i.d. in his wallet.

Hey, republicans really do know how to have fun. Unprotected anal sex seems to be taking the party to a dangerous extreme, but what the hell! Rock on Dude, or Dudes

@3: Heterosexuality isn't a myth. The reason all these Republicans guys are having sex with men is because "right-wing conservative Republican" is a euphemism for "anti-gay closet case!"

Well, sounds like Cody will get pinched for prostitution and/or extortion. And the jolly ol' state rep. just cost himself a job, a marriage, and a whole (or is that "hole"?) lot of respect trying to save $1000. His fiscal conservativeness bit him on the ass. But maybe he likes it like that.

More of who's ox is being gored? When it's your ox, you scream and recriminate - when it's someone else's, you gloat and smirk. The human condition is sad, but as long as there's reportage like this, lawyers will always have jobs. Is there some kind of genetic link between being the type of person who is a closeted homosexual and being the type of person who is a Republican politician?

I mean, I see why a Republican would choose to be closeted, but. . . if you know you're a fag, why go into politics?

You just hate yourself SO MUCH that you're willing to dedicate your whole life to outlawing your own sin?

Wow. Gross.

this story is laced with sadness .. and quite hot as well

closet case who is a political enemy instead of playing by the rules which is to supply a never ending supply of feverish hard dicks to expert fag cruisers

bare backing in any situation involving strangers, a possible sentence to life long disability or even death

no honor at all as sex worker have the right to be paid like any labor

a family who will dissolve in a sea of puritan right wing shame and real homophobia - are there kids - they will still love their daddy

the plus is Dan gets a glimpse of hot and kinky Spokane and what he has apparently missed in his life long vanilla sex techniques/tricking

viva adventure in the quest for hot cock

To all you so shocked by panties on a rugged male - well, here is a toast to a real turn on. There is nothing sexier that a G-string as in stripper gear on a real hunk.

Sexier than a jockstrap - by far. In that mess in Spokane someone knew what they liked and I sure agree. Yum.

@21 "euphemism for 'anti-gay closet case!' " - and the really fucked up thing is that I get the feeling most people in the US take events like this as evidence of the immorality of homosexuality rather than of the homophobia that turns gay boys in rural areas into vehemently anti-gay bathroom-trawling cryptohomos.

@ 31, the power of reaction formation will drag the soul to do everything it can to erase the very material it is made out of. Denial is much more than a river in Egypt (yay punny!), it is a potentially catastorphic defense mechanism.

Yes interesting saga, even to the jaded, and to some degree it is karma

But, there is historic and rampant homophobia everywhere in all these tales and that is very sad

Fucking strange to be ranting in alliance with the far right religious fanatics, that is bothersome, and that tells me Queers need to sort this stuff a bit better

We all know, except to the sexually constipated among us that the Curtis game is repeated thousands of times every night everywhere. Guy gets to bigger city, rents room, cruises for a pickup - and so forth.

So old news, like an all time easy to get laid format of sorts. Of course to those who have never really cruised the pick up points I guess it is sensational ... ie. seemingly even "I never do that" Dan.

It would be nice to see this guy untangle from his closet, come out and change his politics. Join the Bears in the Pride float contest.

I fear he will kill himself instead.

I agree with 41. No free pass on the anti-gay politics of one or the law-breaking of the other, though.

New Jersey poll, Oct 18-23, 1002 adults, sampling error 3.1 %

all adults
48 % for gay marriage
44 % against

aged 18-29
nearly 60% for gay marriage

aged 30-64
nearly 50% for gay marriage

aged 65+
nearly 33% for gay marriage

all adults
66 % favor civil unions
66+ % don't know if civil unions are working

The poll was conducted about one year after the state Supreme Court ruled that gay couples had to be given the legal rights of marriage. Late last year, the state Legislature responded by adopting the nation's third civil unions law.

The poll also found that people personally close to gays and lesbians supported gay marriage at a higher rate than those who don't have gay friends or relatives.

The results are similar to those of an Eagleton poll conducted in June 2006.

"Usually change is news. But in this case, no change in public opinion is the real news, given all that has happened in the past year," said Tim Vercellotti, the polling director at the Eagleton Institute of Politics.

"The consistency of public opinion on these issues suggests these are deeply held beliefs that do not shift easily."

No doubt Curtis was in Spokane for the expressed purpose of visiting the now-deceased Jim West's grave, and for a little sex.

Curtis probably placed a dozen red roses near West's headstone while whispering to Jim, the former gay, homophobic Republican mayor of Spokane, how much he misses him. What else Curtis does at the grave I have no idea. I hope sobbing is all he does at the grave.

Mr. Tilkin,

What do you mean by "confirm?" The only thing Will can confirm for you is that he posted about Cody's alleged HIV status. Will cannot confirm for you the actual status -- only a medical professional, betraying Cody's medical privacy, could do so, or a court-ordered test that becomes part of the public record. Or, of course, Cody's own admission (which is not 100% ironclad as he could have a false test result, poz or neg, and be unaware of the true status).

All you want to do, I suspect, is get some other poor slob in front of the cameras to say Cody is HIV+, and then there Will is, busted for libel in case it's not true. But you have your footage and another day of ratings-driving sensationalism.

I hate certain members of the media for being stupid and for being manipulative.

Have a nice day.

Yet another Republican who voted against the rights of gays appears to like to play on their team.
If they would just be true to themselves we may have civil right for everyone in our country.
I hope he will find a nice guy who will love him for who he is and they can be happy together.

It is particularly delicious to have Republican hypocrisy exposed, isn't it? Can't wait for the next GOP closet queen to reveal her hand.

What is the lesson here for us as a nation? Maybe it's OK to be who we are, homosexuals included- and that we all should enjoy equal protection under the law the the basic rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, guaranteed by our constitution.

Grow up, America and learn your lesson!

Special note to GOP closet queens- if you vote against gay rights... you will be found out...you will be exposed. Have the cojones to at least legislate fairly... even if you can't be honest about your own lives.

So many jokes, so little time. I wrote these in five seconds.

"At least Monica didn't take it up the @ss."

"Now Curtis knows what it's like to be a taxpayer -- paying a guy to give it to us up the @ss."

"Curtis spent the first part of the evening getting blown by a guy with a cane in a porn store. Is that what President Bush really wanted when he reauthorized the Americans With Disability Act? Porn store blow jobs?"

"Now Curtis' teenaged daughter knows what happened to her thong."

"And, at least Larry Craig had the good sense to plan sex in the relative calm of a busy airport bathroom, while this guy got a blow job from a guy with a cane in public at a porn store while dressed as the world's hairest woman. That's for the discretion, Larry!"

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

As one former prostitute who ran for public office once said "politics is known to be the second oldest profession, and it ain't any different than the oldest." So Cody and Curtis complement each other really well.
