The end:

The house is located on a very small plot in IJburg; a recently developed suburb of the city of Amsterdam. The house is designed as a monolythical sculptural mass, expressed by contrasting introverted private spaces (that form the mass) with open collective spaces that seem to have been ‘carved out’ from the solid volume as a continous transparent void, visually and physically connecting them to the street, the garden and roof terrace. This strategy seems to give the house a monumental and sculptural quality that articulates a sense of stability, simplicity and permanence.

I love it. Looks like these new cool low income housing apartments that are featured in this month's Dwell Magazine.

It's nice, but there's not enough bookcases.

only in holland! i want some of what they're smoking.

everyone in murka knows that houses are supposed to be faux craftsman, be built out of cheap, unhealthy materials, have 3 car garages & 8 bathrooms, & cost $750,000.

#4, you speak the truth. I love little modern houses. The interior, on the other hand, is way too "office" for me, but that's easily rectified.

I love a dwelling with it's own exterior climbing wall.

The thought of living in a space like that makes me kind of panicky. It's so open and sterile. And even once you moved stuff into it and painted it so it wasn't hideously depressing colors like it is, you'd still have those office windows that you couldn't escape...

I much prefer cluttered, dark, enclosed spaces. The exact opposite, unfortunately, from my boyfriend. His dream houses make me squirm, with their open floor plans and huge windows. My dream house, on the other hand, has lots of nooks and crannies and, ideally, a secret passage or two.

I think what I like best about this home is that it is so clean. My house isn't always so clean. This is also why I like my cubicle at work, because someone comes and vacuums under my chair most every night. They don't do that at my house.

I once worked with a conservationist who thought that if people lived in shelves it would save the world... this made me think of that.

Horrid lack of anything living or green.

Monolithic.

Devoid of life, color, imagination, diversity, and character.

This neighborhood should be avoided by the clinically depressed. Even for visits.
