Outstanding -- after looking over both the PI, Seattle Times, and NYT, I completely missed most of these important stories. I bet I was distracted by Al Gore! Thanks for pointing out what I missed.
I want to buy McIver a drink. Make him talk. And then...shoot?
*docking joke here*
"We've invested hundreds of millions of dollars in our infrastructure. Let someone else make these investments and get into ticketing," Diller said at a New York conference in September. "It'll be good for us and interesting for them."
Balls of steel on that one.
Al gets (part of) the Nobel prize and we can have civic pride in Sherman Alexie and Ellen Forney.
It's gonna be a good day.
Will Clinton, Obama, or Edwards do anything about our record wealth gap? It'd be nice to think that Edwards would. Oh wait. He's hedge-fund manager. Maybe not.
Interesting that Mrs McIver asked for the no contact order to be lifted, but McIver insisted on keeping it in place.
I wasnt there, but it sure sounds like it was just two lushes arguing.
My husband is always trying to take out a no contact order on me...
Nicely done. "Turkey Trots" is right on the mark. Kudos.
And as yet the Stranger has not linked to the police report where it states that there were no injuries and medics were refused.
This treatment, two days in jail, without any injuries after a drunken spat is ridiculous.
Maybe he could sneak back in the house by fashioning a jet-pack out of whipped cream cans. Then he could disable the alarm with a gum wrapper.
Oh ... McIver! I thought you said MacGyver!
Great for Al Gore.
He deserves the nobel Prize which is a recognition for him as a better person than G.W. Bush.
Yours Sincerely.
ok, I'm (im)patiently waiting for Amelia's first post. I'm hoping for a NSFW self portrait.
there were no injuries, the report is all over the press. There is a valid reason why he spent two days and not released on PR and it was cuz most of the king county judges had to excuse themselves cuz theyre friends of his. the city attorney asked the county to take over and they had to go to kent to find a judge who did not know him. he is popular and it cost him.
Isn't it recuse? - Regardless he shouldn't have had to spend two nights in jail - any Judge could have let him out with a standard no contact, no drinking, no gun order.
hell if i know, youre the gringo. i think most judges felt it was a conflict of interest and the prosecutors agreed.
but, youre right it was a bit long, but im sure he was kept in the processing unit or in an office somewhere.
COMTE, well done! Content, presentation, everything, it's at least as good as the staff-produced entries.
