Can't they just enact some sort of stupid tourist law? The waiting period was one idea, why not try something else in that direction? $60 mushroom license anyone?

No, there were several incidents, some of which involved other drugs (alcohol, XTC etc.) besides the mushrooms. The French girl apparently already had attempted suicide before she partook of the mushrooms.

Experts advise against banning mushrooms, but the Christian parties in the coalition government do see an opportunity to try and save our heathen souls.
