They had a heated argument. He grabbed her by the throat, which is physical assault, for the first time in 33 years. He was 'probably' drunk. He should definitely 'go to rehab' if he was drunk, because that will solve everything.

And no, that doesn't make it right. But should it lead to rehab, resignation, and 1,500+ words on drinking in general? Life is full of events like this, and we all experience them. Do we all call the cops and throw stones immediately?

It's not something we all experience.

That said, we don't know the details of McIver's situation. And as much as I don't like him, I'd be happy for this whole situation to be between his wife and him and the justice system.

The speculation is getting boring.

I dunno, the cops got called on a domestic violence call, and it got him thrown in jail for two days, and now a formal charge. These sorts of things don't result from a simple misunderstanding.
