Yinka Shonibare!
Now, show us one that approximates the experience of reading Jacqueline Susanne...
This is fun. Especially the Nabokov -- looks like the butterflies are feasting on her. And the little red frown coupled with that steely glare -- she's vulnerable and intimidating at the same time. Creepily beautiful.
The dress on the last one should be hanging on a mennquin. Barthes is one seriously unsexy writer.
Jacqueline Susann's one should feature butterflies and roses scattered over the slumped body of a naked, sobbing starlet -- just the way I like them.
I only tried Proust, but it is accurate. So I suddenly feel like reading Barthes.
Saying a photo of a slender young girl with butterflies reminds you of Nabokov is like saying snow reminds you of Christmas. No shit, Sherlock.
This image approximates reading the Slog posts of Charles Mudede:

Nabokov sold out when Sting mentioned him in a The Police song.
Mrs. Poe?
Blasphemy!
pretentious.

2 : making demands on one's skill, ability, or means : AMBITIOUS
>Mrs. Poe?
>Blasphemy!
heh heh. Thems the breaks of slog comment stardom.
Oh the irony, Mr. Poe! bwaa hahahha.
Shut up! All 'yallz! Juzhhutup!!!
Sting pronounced Vladdie's name wrong in the song. Sting is a boob.
This is my favorite Mudede post.
Don't stand so close to me
Somehow I think that Nabokov would be pretty disappointed by his books being "approximated" with a picture of butterflies. Didn't he bitch and moan about cover artists always throwing butterflies on the cover of his books? The first photo makes me think of The Satanic Verses much more anyway...
The first two are beautiful, Charles, but the female ass leaves me cold.
I'm just saying.
The female ass can have great warming powers, Mark. Give it a chance.
Honey Bucket satisfies the masses again
