eli, i'd love to fetch your frappucino and make copies all day, but somehow i don't think the stranger can meet my pay rate. oh wait, interns work for free right?

Eli, I'd love to do this...but the current economic condition of being a self-supporting college student, your most probable candidate pool, cannot allow me to work for free.

Goddamn adminsitration and "job growth" in low paying positions.

Working for Eli is great! Sure you don't get paid... but you don't have to fetch him frappuccino's either. I heartily recommend it.

I hope you can get another Jewish intern for the Stranger. My dream would be more features about being Jewish in Seattle, where the hip Jews go to Temple, and how we can all become more deeply observant of Jewish law and culture. The Stranger does a fine job at bashing Christianity, but that's not enough, we all need to become better Jews too, keep kosher, and love Torah.

Would you consider yourself an honorable hip Jew, Issur?

slavery is illegal - and not paying people who work for you - as in the "intern" scam should be outlawed

chant together - minimum wage law, change it to make it universal, enforce it

if McDonalds tried this shit you'd be all over them

Ted Rall has a point about that. Kind of like how the Olympics excluded professionals to keep the lower classes out, internships give those rich enough to work for free a head start in their careers.

But if The Stranger is going to give some trust fund baby a leg up, why not see if somebody in the math department is looking to be an intern? Or a J major with a minor in math? Somebody with knowledge of like, statistics and sampling methods and so on? I'm just saying.

@11 Trust fund baby? Who the hell are you talking about? I don't know an intern or writer at the Stranger that is not comically cheap and shabby by nature (not by design of some poor sense in fashion, which is also prevalent). Some of us resemble talking/typing garbage cans, with only the barest vestige of humanity visible in our deadened, dilated eyes.

Nobody at The Stranger was accused of being clean. Far from it.

You should hire Ian Crossland from YouTube semi-obscurity. I *know* you'd love him!

The Best Summary of Ian to Date

If you think Chris Crocker is bad, he cannot even hold a flame to Ian.

@ 10 - Yes, you don't get paid, but you also get that holy grail, college credit.

And you don't have to take tests.

Glad to see you are getting someone to help you with the heavy lifting so you can focus more of your time on those every important Chris Crocker updates.
