Every Child Deserves An Enabling Mother

posted by on October 12 at 9:54 AM

Good morning, starshines! I bring you this heartwarming story of a mother who wants nothing more than to help her kid realize his dreams. It’s like a Citibank commercial, except with assault rifles.

“I think you have a parent who has fallen down on the job in supervising the child, perhaps indulgent on the child because she knows he has issues,” he said before her arrest.

Yes. Because every child with issues should be purchasing firearms and bomb-making equipment.

"This is not the best parenting I've ever seen..."

Sure, but they probably haven't been visiting that parents behaving badly site for perspective.

Too bad she didn't win a Darwin Award before she spawned that demon.

I see nothing wrong with this.

Haha picture two looks REALLY BAD...until you realize that only one of those is a real gun and the rest are either BB guns or airsoft. Media manipulation anyone?

Or he could have waited a few years and bought them himself, which he probably will anyway?

How else will he blame Marilyn Manson when he goes on his shooting rampage? I mean, he NEEDS those rifles!

I'm a strong supporter of the second ammendment, but why the fuck are they not throwing the entire criminal code against this dipshit mom? She should face manslaughter charges for the death of her son.

@7 it always cracks me up when someone proclaims that - really, you support your own constitutional rights? Congratulations! Me? I'm more of a third amendment rights guy myself, but to each his/her own.

no quarter, let me explain it to you. When somebody says "I'm a strong supporter of the second ammendment", they usually mean something like:

* I (generally) support the NRA
* I am against taking guns away from law abiding citizens
* I am against the assault rifle ban. Assault rifles aren't any more dangerous than any other rifle- just less likely to jam.
* I think the founding fathers intended that a well armed citizenry would be a bullwark against totalitarianism.

I didn't want to start a debate on all these topics, on which I realize I am at odds with many Slog posters- thanks a whole bunch for forcing me to do so. I just wanted to make clear that even gun supporters view giving your mentally ill children firearms rises to the level of manslaughter-level negligence.

Big Sven: You're confusing this case with the shooting in Cleveland. The kid whose mom was arrested didn't shoot anyone and is still alive. If the mom didn't give the guns to her son and put them in the closet like a law-abiding NRA member, her son and a bunch of other kids would probably be dead soon.

They don't know where the Cleveland kid got his guns, but they were probably legally bought by some NRA member.

jamier- damn it. You're right. Not only was I advancing unpopular beliefs, I was doing so stupidly. Good thing I'm bugging out early this afternoon, before I can do or say anything else stupid. (At least on the Slog.)
