posted by on October 12 at 11:08 AM

Tell me, beloveds. Who SHOULD have opposed Tom Rasmussen for City Council Position No. 5?

I enjoy your posts, but I find your pet-names incredibly condescending.

There's no "wait, I like Tom Rasmussen" option. Not that I would have picked it, but still.

Actually, I don't believe that the City Council exists.

Sorry Carollani, I always feel emotionally attached to the entire city of Seattle before I've had my first cup of coffee. After that things start to sharpen up.

Apology accepted. Carry on.

your bit stopped being funny after the headline. the stranger is for elitist hipsters, so a lot of content is about being too cool for school, which is fine. i like that the stranger is self-referencing and cynical and crass in everything, even politics. BUT they aren't 'above' taking local politics seriously. you are though, and now we are all stupider for your shitty 'politicians are so dumb a crazy person or bar-owner could do a better job' shtick.

if your bit had any comic value in it, that would've been one thing, but it didn't, and all we are left with is to glean your commentary, which is that "anyone could do a better job than tom rasmussen". fucking pathetic. and annoying. if you want to bitch about how stupid everything is, go somewhere else. me, i like my commentary to have some substance.

As long as you tell Pedro that Tom Rasmussen supports Frye apartments and is a practicing Catholic, I think you can get him to run.

No really, I think someone should have run against Rasmussen. Not because he hasn't been doing a good job, but because unopposed races are 1)boring and 2)they don't challenge the incumbent to do bigger and better things.

And not to pile on, but what's your problem with Linda? She's a good person who does good things.

That said, we all need our coffee (and things) before we're our best.

No love for Gil K.

That's gotta sting.

Councilmember Rasmussen has a record of distinguished mediocrity. He most certainly deserved a challenger, especially for his classist statements on Seattle annexing White Center. If this city has districts, he would have gotten a challenger. But we don't so $$$ rules the day.

I want a run off between Peter Sherwin and the Frye Apartments guy before I pick.

I think the best idea would be to get Peter Sherwin and Pedro the Frye Apts guy to go to Linda's and have a drinking contest, then we let that jerk bouncer guy
decide who's ass he's going to kick out of the bar first.

#9 and #15 need to mate - their child would be the perfect political animal

you both make little sense

Katelyn is a number one Burgess suck up - who cares if he is a Bushie anti gay hate monger

And tiptoe is pitching shit at the best council person Seattle as seen in many years. Attentive, far more progressive than most of us knew, and just top drawer all around (clue bus is here - that is why no one filed against him, no one could have beat him under any circumstance)

We may need to save the Public Intern in order to ensure that Mayor Nickels has an opponent.

Oh, I did want to note that I think Linda Derschang could actually do quite a good job on the City Council. I would like to meet this woman some day, she kicks serious ass.

Tom Rasmussen could beat Nickels - but - does not want to be the Mayor.

Don't tell #15, who thinks Seattle's body politic is driven by the very old conversation about White Center annexation, and such, to which no attention is paid. Most Seattleites think it is already past of Seattle, trust me.
