On the one hand, Colbert makes the road to 2008 a hell of a lot more entertaining, but the drawback is that everyone wants to be in on the joke and you end up getting the type of lameness personified by Tim Russert last weekend. I mean, it's nice that Edwards's campaign has a sense of humor. I guess they're damned either way. Either they look stuffy and uncool, or they try to be funny and look uncool. Ah well.

it must really suck to be Chris Dodd on Meet the Press this weekend when Tim Russert shows the current standings and you're polling at 0% while a fake candidate is getting 2.3%.

as a Democrat Colbert only needs 15% to get delegates at the convention. as a Republican he would need to win out right, the odds are far better as a Dem

Every candidate is looking for that saxophone to play on the Arsinio Hall show. Although playing to a less populist tune, this is as close as we've seen this election.
