I'm not convinced that Della missing a forum will pan out into such a story.

I forget... weren't there several bitterly contested issues surrounding the Della-Burgess race? Would the frothing partisans from each side care to re-post their catalogs of charges and counter charges against the other candidate? I know you guys hate to repeat yourselves, but it would be ever so helpful if you could just review the whole thing for us again. Thx!

So...what's going on between you and Feit? Am I the only one noticing this?

It's too bad that some races, 6th District school council (Sundquist and Ramirez) have two good candidates and some races, Della's seat on city council, have two such pathetic choices. Is there a legitimate write-in candidate we might know about?

Della bad!
Burgess good!

Repeat.

I was there last night and David Namura (who introduced himself as Della's Chief of Staff) said "truthfully, I can't recall where David is tonight." He really expected us to believe that they didn't plan with Della which meeting to attend and which one to miss. All of the other city council candidates were at the Eastlake Council debate. It seems like Della thinks he doesn’t need to campaign as an incumbent.

That's typical Michael Grossman sleaze - when you can't respond directly to the substance of the charge because it's going to be the subject of an ethics investigation, you instead question the motivation of the (firefighter/labor leader) making the charge.

How about a bit of real truth time information -

Yes Della was campaigning last night - He was one of many political candidates at a meet and greet at Rosebud sponsored by the gay community.

An Equal Rights Washington event. Dave was warmly received, talking, mixing, and smiling, very at ease.

Burgess was there too for a short while, looked very uptight and left.

No speeches, just Meet and Greet for about an hour or so, buy your own cocktail, at the Rosebud on Pike.

The Police union is full of uptight power mongers. They think they DO run the city.

Talked to an insider today, Godden is going to join Della and Licata on police policing issues. Cop union is perhaps feeling a bit squeezed and needs "one of us" on the council.

FYI remember Burgess is an ex cop.

"Jim Brandcock" welcome! And goodbye!

Yet another never before seen and never to be seen again user name. In a thread about a city council race! Whodathunkit!

Why? Why don't you guys just say "Hi, I work for the ______ campaign, and here's what we have to say...." What would be wrong with that? Why do you have to pretend to be a real person? It doesn't work! Quit it.

Really. Be honest and you'd get respect.

Who the hell is elenchos?

I was at the gathering, don't work for the campaign, you, whoever you are, are getting a bit paranoid.

And my best friend posts here all the time, Whatever, and an old boyfriend, Hiding.

Back to the facts, yes Della was campaigning, at the Meet and Greet I detailed above.

And yes, Godden is going to join forces with Della and Licata to call for greater police acountibility, which effort I doubt Burgess would join if elected.

Which is why the cop union is sounding unstable and stressed, with wild accusations, their boy Burgess is going down.

Brandcock at a meet and greet gay event, right. Not one google hit for Jim Brandcock - what a surprise.

Don't know no Brandcock don't think you do either.

OK fine. Let's play.

So the police union is hallucinating. Because they are so terrified of more police accountability.

Then why is the firefighters union hearing things too? Are the firemen too being driven mad by fear of, uh, more police accountability?

elenchos has posted here for quite a long time on a variety of issues, Brandcock, whereas we haven't seen you before, until this discussion.

I think Elenchos has hit on something here - if it was just Rich O'Neill from the Police Union, who truly seems like a batshit a-hole, then I would think "well, maybe, maybe not". But the firefighters telling virtually the same story gives the whole thing some legs it wouldn't otherwise have.

Jim Brandcock --

You're mistaken. The Rosebud was on Monday night. The meeting ECB is referring to was last night, Tuesday. Still wondering where Della was.

So here's the deal: the cops don't want oversight, AND Burgess was a cop, so they endorse Burgess. Della is FOR oversight, always has been. Della openly criticized cops who have killed people in this town (such people are nearly always Black), and that has pissed off the police union, which defends cops who get out of line, who steal drugs, and who shoot people.

Why, someone asks, would the firefighters be mad? Well, could be because there's been this huge and simmering issue of staffing the fire stations and how many shifts the firefighters work. Staffing is a budget issue, and Della is on that committee. It's not rocket science. The budget committee questioned whether firefighters might work more than 8 days a month - but sheesh, no friggin way! Since the other members of the Budget committee are either not up for election, or have no real opposition, Della bears the brunt of it. How dare Della question firefighters? Indeed.

The real question is how anyone can so quickly believe the allegations of union thugs.

The two MOST homophobic pieces of the city services, and among the largest, - are - the fire dept. and the police dept.

No male firefighters who dare be out - couple of Lesbians

No male cops - couple of Lesbians

And of course, those are Burgess's friends.

And of course - straight people don't get some of these nuances.

Wait a minute. The really interesting part of the story is getting buried here...

The conversation between Della and the SPOG president is alleged to have happened two months ago. SPOG didn't make it public until...when? One week after Della co-sponsored Nick Licata's legislation tightening SPD disciplinary procedures.

This whole thing is about nothing more than SPOG's on-going campaign to evade any kind of accountability for police misconduct.

p.s. In case it makes a difference to anyone, I've posted before, I don't work for Della's campaign, but I am going to vote for him.

Feit and Barnett dating is the worst kept secret in town. It's been simmering for a long time.
