there is no lie that they are too ashamed to tell.
democrats, take some fucking notes & stop apologizing for telling the truth.
bush IS amused by this war.
Well, duh, of course there are benefits to an overall warmer climate. One of the questions that needs to be asked is how will the benefits stack up against the unpleasant aspects that also follow.
bah, dems have no guts. stop wishing for change and make it happen your damn self.
Clearly science is the work of Satan and his demons. We must kill the scientists and save our children from being taught about global warming and other "sciencey" things.
This is fucking crazy! Figures that the party that argued that ketchup is a vegetable would pull shit like this...
Well, it just depends on ones perspective.
If you're a stockholder in a multi-national oil company, or a large agri-business, then sure GW probably does have some benefits, namely, to the bottom line. And isn't that all that really matters?
So, technically, Perino isn't lying when she makes that statement, she's just presenting the facts as they apply to the people who cut her paycheck.
Well there are some benefits, at least in the short term. It all depends on how they're presented, and of course in this case the presentation (and the purported "benefit" chosen in this case) is ridiculous. Chicago is not going to become a place that is friendly to homeless people in the winter. A few averaged degrees warmer in the next few decades will be a benefit for people who like to grow wine grapes, not bums who freeze on the streets.
Everyone knows that Global Warming means more sunny beaches for everyone to enjoy.
COMTE @6:
When I first read this sentence, I thought the GW was "George W.", not "global warming." Actually, the statement is equally true whichever GW you happen to plug in.
GW (Bush) makes an all too easy scapegoat for GW (climate change).
You see, the Bush administration's denial about climate change is way out of line with the American people's awareness of climate change. But the Bush administration's unwillingness to do anything about climate change is perfectly in sync with the American people's attitude about climate change.
Climate change currently is something we furrow our brows about, very genuinely and sincerely, and then we go on with our lives. And we go on with our lives just the way we had before.
The great challenge with climate change is not moving the politicians; it's moving the people the politicians must answer to.
The "there might be benefits" line is just the latest position in a series of strategic retreats. If you've been keeping track, they follow thusly:
1."It isn't happening."
2."It may be happening, but it's not caused by humans."
3."It's happening, and it will make things better."
The next position after this one is abandoned will be
4."It's too late to do anything about it."
Which, by the time we get there (at this rate), will probably be true.
Surf the Aleutians!
Or:
"Welcome To San Francisco - America's Oceanside Desert Playground!"
If you spin enough, you get dizzy.
But it is helping Greenland in their fight for independence from Denmark.
I think Perino just got the final seat on the train to hell. Denny Hastert had to stand up, man boobs and all.
Regardless of her bullshit about benefits, is she not the worst White House Rep. ever? She can't say a sentence without correcting herself. Maybe she just knows its all crap, but you'd think they could find a smoother liar than her. Or maybe they think the guys will go gentler on her because she's cute.
