I agree, the cops on Broadway need to bath much more than they do. Would help if they worked out more as well. I mean we want clean hot cops on Broadway. And their pants should show some bulge as well!!!

Oh, that'll work. Start planning for your first term, Joe Szwaja!

there's a telephone pole 1 block east of there with an even more entertaining sign. Two signs, actually, but one message that just couldn't be contained on one page, I guess.

So, is Joe going to clean them with green soap or something?

I'm pretty sure Joe Szwaja has nothing to do with these signs. They look just like the ones distributed by that gray-haired guy who walk up and down Broadway with a cane and those enormous headphone-earmuffs. He usually pays homeless kids to pass out handbills. Every year they also stand outside Hempfest with signs that read, "Arrest Dentists not Pot Smokers," whatever the fuck that means. As if the people there aren't stoned and confused enough already.

Oh definitely. I liked when he went on a flyer tirade against trans-fats earlier this year. He always hires Slats' ex-girlfriends. He's a brilliant man.

"Civil Rights Do Matter"...?

Obviously someone isn't from Seattle.

It's fine with me that someone is putting up signs about Joe Szwaja and Civil Rights... but it is not coordinated by the campaign.

However, I will point out that Joe Szwaja co-authored and fought hard to pass some of the first GLBT protection legislation in the country as a Madison City Council member back in the late 80s. He has stood for Civil Rights his whole life, stood up for East Timor, stood up for and raised money for Katrina survivors, and has helped numerous organizations and causes that obviously have had an affect on someone who has taken it upon themselves to spread the message.

Funny how the Stranger hasn't mentioned his track record on Civil Rights from Madison City Council, and just rolled over for Jean Godden... pretty much it seems on the basis of her vote to postpone the nightlife ordinance. Jean doesn't list one item in her top 30 accomplishments on the council that seem to have anything to do with the GLBT community.

Check out the YouTube Videos linked from his website http://www.joeforcouncil.org if you get a chance, they are both informative and the one about his name is pretty funny IMHO.

Go Joe GO!!!!

"Slat's Ex-Girlfriends" is the name of the new band I'm putting together.
