C'mon people! He is a dalmation, and the most mild tempered and affectionate dog around. This picture was taken while he was running across a field at a reunion for dalmatian rescues and he was having the time of his life. There's no need to be just plain rude in your comments.

The problem with dalmations is that unless they have exactly the right coloring they can be quite ugly.

I love dogs. Our dog is a rescued standard poodle (to complete the stereotype), and he is fantastic. Thanks for sharing the happy puppy picture.

He's a liver-spotted Dalmatian. We actually have two (!) and are so grateful for Seattle's many excellent dog parks.

@15--You have dog parks in Seattle? We finally have ONE in Ann Arbor on the outskirts of town on top of an old land fill. And we have to pay to use it. Good times.

I'm glad we were able to rescue our dog when he was 2. He's now 7 and has been a great companion--especially when the husband travels. Plus he keeps the bed warm! Yay for dogs.

here's a tip: when you post just a title (which, in and of itself could be taken at face value or as sarcasm) and then only post a picture (pretty half-assed, btw) you're really asking for it. Especially when this picture could be taken as a dog joyfully running, or baring it's teeth ready to attack.

We don't have years of context to backup this photograph, so instead we're forced to create our own. The comments you see come out of each person's manifestation.

If you're sensitive about your dog, DON'T POST IT. (or at the very least fill us in on why it brings you so much joy.)

Dalmations are certainly NOT "the most mild tempered and affectionate dog around." I've been around a lot of dogs, and the only one that's ever bitten me was a dalmation. So sorry, but that photo makes me recoil with horror.

From a random website, here are the good things:

* Is medium to large and built like a sleek athlete
* Has a short easy-to-brush coat
* Thrives on vigorous exercise and interactive family activities
* Is usually polite with everyone

But here's what you might have to deal with:

* An extra careful search to avoid all the neurotic Dalmatians
* Vigorous exercise requirements
* Rowdiness and exuberant jumping, especially when young or not exercised enough
* "Separation anxiety" (destructiveness and barking) when left alone too much
* Aggression or fearfulness in some lines, or when not socialized enough
* Strong-willed mind of his own, requiring a confident owner who can take charge
* Constant heavy shedding
* Serious health problems

Yeah, dalmatians are usually really inappropriate pets. There was a glut of them in the shelters after "101 Dalmations" came out and everybody bought their stupid offspring one, only to have Precious sustain some serious bite wounds. They're really high strung and aggressive.

I used to have a Weimeraner - they're great dogs, very loyal, hunt lions and won't stop.

But very empathic at the same time.

they have a rep for not being good with children, and for not being terribly bright, and for being deaf--that last one is the reason they were used as fire truck dogs, so the sirens and alarms wouldn't freak them out. or so i've heard repeatedly.

I meant to comment on this earlier - great pic! But you really wanted to be ballsy while the boss is away you'd have posted a pic of a happy pit bull. But I'm PML at the comments describing how frightening this obviously overjoyed dog is in the picture.
