Where Are the Police?

posted by on September 17 at 13:25 PM

From one neighborhood blog

A bank robbery on 15th; an armed robbery on 19th; a mugging in broad daylight on 11th. And where are the police? Fighting Greg Nickels’ imaginary crime wave in the clubs.

The police couldn’t even be bothered to break up this public disturbance.

Not to mention, and sorry to harp on the war some more, but tax cuts plus war spending means that many major cities that got grants to fund community policing programs and hire more cops are seeing those grants cut or drying up so that in most major cities now all cops can do is react to crime rather than prevent it and cops are getting laid off- but Seattle seems to be able to run thesepolitical crack downs- shame.

Where are the police? Well, that blog does make note of 5 cop cars and a K-9 unit at the robbery scene.

It says the police apprehended a suspect in the mugging.

And almost all bank robbers are taken in to custody -- but rarely at the scene and not necessarily on their first heist.

But yeah ... where are the police? What did Jane Hague say, they should be out catching rapists or something?

"Mars Hill’s controversial leader Mark Driscoll, who declared this to be the biggest mass baptism in Seattle history."

Actually, with the exception of a couple of babies reportedly present, and maybe the odd friend-of-a-member somehow talked into tagging along, this probably wasn't a Baptism at all. The majority of those people were likely already church members, already bearing names. This was a bunch of people from Mars Hill church taking part in a their Church's event.

I am waiting for some of our Sloggers to start to say this is all part of living in a big city....waiting for them to start to put their input in anytime now.

Yeah, crime on Cap Hill is getting out of control. That is why I moved off the Hill. I refuse to pay the rent they charge for a neighborhood that is going to hell. And the Mayor is doing nothing about it; except build pricy condos.

A cop in every bank! A cop on every block 24/7! (except where there's a nightclub nearby). That'll stop the crime wave.

Since these crimes happened after the nightclub busts, and in the middle of the day in two cases, SPD must have been otherwise occupied. The only solution is a police state, supported by vigilantes.

Greenlake: My car was broken into two weeks ago. Last Friday at 3 a.m. a tweeker barged into my house uninvited. I too will sleep easily now that I know that bartenders who give drinks to intoxicated people - in bars! - will be punished.

That Mark Driscoll would probably look pretty good in one of those SS uniforms. Kinda hot in a fetish way.

We don't really need any more cops in our neighborhood. The 19th Ave Tully's is practically east precinct HQ. Ballard, on the other hand, is a lawless free-for-all.

Cops out of clubs! Into Ballard!

@15: It must be the Ballard Junior Football team's scofflaw attitude that is leading to the downfall of the neighborhood.

Where are the police? They are ticketing bikers on the Burke-Gilman trail for coasting through driveway stop signs.
