Steak salad? Is it just me, or does that sound totally wrong?

You just know that name will stick. Besides, the official substitution is "SLUS" (with "Streetcar" replacing "Trolley") which doesn't make any damn sense.

'Riding the SLUT' would also put us on par with Austin's 'Ride the Dillo'.

In the late 90's, Sound Transit, under the chair of Richard McIver, had a new committee on the building of light rail and all the difficulties for the nearby communities. Its name, and I am not making this up, originally was Central Link Implementation Taskforce. You do the math. It was changed in less than 24 hours.

Too bad the Seattle Monorail doesn't go through there...then you could meet the SLUT at the SLUM!

Levi -- it was so, so good.

We started calling the Coliseum the Key Arena because they told us to. If they come up with something else and try to tell us that it is not in fact the SLUT, the powers that may be will win. SLUT will only stay if it is promoted at the grassroots level. I endorse these T-shirts.

Everytime I go past the building downtown with the huge facade welcoming me to the West Edge, with its totally cheesy '80s graphic, and overlooking the saddest unused fenced-in playground ever, I think of gretchen in mean Girls. "Stop trying to make West Edge happen! It's NOT going to happen!" heh.

Is there really an effort to rename SLU "Cascade"? The only name that area will ever get called besides South lake Union is Allentown IMO.

Also, Mayor Nickels will be changing the name of the Ballard Bridge to the Ballard Interbay Trans-Canal Highway.

I think it was Cascade or Cascadia before it was SLU.

I have been suggesting for a while the the two streetcar lines be given alphabetic route names, which would be easily rememered:

The South Lake Union line will be the A (for Paul Allen) line.

The original Waterfront Streetcar (if it ever resurfaces) will be the B (for George Benson) line.

Respectfully
Andrew

While you're down at Kapow!, could you ask them to make coffee that does not suck?

The *best* part about Seattle is how we trash Allen for investing in the city. I *know* a crappy town like Topeka would equally be so picky about who lives in and creates jobs for their city. Was everyone in this town the last picked for football or what????

You know what the best part of Topeka is? Yeah, me neither.

@9 Hahah "overlooking the saddest unused fenced-in playground ever"

That is the second saddest place on earth after the Fun Forrest in January.

Not only do we have the SLUT, but the Seattle Municipal Tower (formerly Key Tower) is affectionately known by many city employees as the SMUT.

Appropriate, given that it was designed to resemble a penis.

@ 9, That playground is for a daycare. You have to go by around 10 am on a decent day to see it used. But rest assured that it is.

I'm with c. It was Cascade before South Lake Union. And kapow! doesn't suck, either.

The Cascade Neighborhood does exist already. They are trying to lump it in with SLU. Lame.
What's not lame is one of those addictive mexi-mochas at Kapow! I'm getting the brown SLUT shirt, just in case I spill. PA I ask you, can you make a coffee that doesn't suck?

Goddamnit, sometimes I feel like the last Seattle native left. The Cascade neighborhood has been Cascade for, oh, about 100 years. Not that I have been here that long. But the name isn't new.

Oh, of course. Cascade. How could I have missed that on the map of Seattle neighborhoods I have tattooed on my ass?

My Suggestion is to call it the:

Westlake Express To South Lake Union Trolley (WET SLUT)
