That is fucking cool.

I can't wait to see them tomorrow. They were great at Bonnaroo.

That reminds me to thank you for all of the local music coverage in this week's Stranger. Normally, when a local rag gets bought by an alt-weekly corporate consortium, you'd expect said consortium to try to push some big major label touring band into everyone's columns, and I'm pleased to note that the Stranger is too classy to let that happen.

Hey Chas @ 6

You're bitter.
The Stranger does as much for the local music scene as kexp. Get over it.

@6.. Your comment seems to imply that the Stranger has been bought by an "alt-weekly corporate consortium." I think you got your local alt-weeklies confused.

Huh. For some reason I was laboring under the impression that Creative Loafing in some way bought some part of the Stranger... I mean, of course I'd read the Slog post that said that they did no such thing, but I'm easily confused as well as prone to creating fictions out of whole cloth. My bad.

That said, forcing a Lips reference in "My Philosophy"? WTF?

Only two good things have come from Oklahoma: Color Me Badd and The Flaming Lips. Well, three if you count me.

I like the idea of you guys featuring the cover on the Slog each week and saying a little bit about the artists. Is this going to become a habit? It should.

The people that used to own the Reader in Chicago owned a small piece of the Stranger. They sold the Reader to Creative Loafing, but they didn't sell the small piece they owned of The Stranger. They kept that.

So nothing changed for us.
