He'll be fine, as he's in one of the provinces that is a success story.

I'll be praying for something, that's for sure.

This is a perfect moment for Cheney to have Bush disposed of so he can steal power. You heard it here first, and if it does not happen you'll forget I made this prediction.

I saw Bush shaking hands with the soldiers on CNN... Question: why are these guys so goddamned happy to see him? They look ecstatic, like "oh YAY, we get to hang out with the guy who made it easy for our buddies to die over here! SWEET!" It's just really ridiculous.

In other important morning news, I have a crick in my neck, and this is the third day running. And I fucking live with two massage therapists. That my pain should still be present is also ridiculous.

You make your employees work on labor day? Harsh...Maybe you should lay off them on a day everybody else has off.

It's not a smack down, KC. Some newsies file MN late at night, not just ECB. And consequently some items that ought to make MN are omitted because they broke between, say, 2 or 3 AM and 10 AM. I've been guilty of it too -- up at 3 AM, do MN, schedule it to post at 8 AM, and then at 6 AM, when I finally fall asleep, the International Space Station plummets to earth or something. It's always something.

Isn't Labor Day a national holiday, something about the rights of working people? Seems a bit fucked up to make your employee work on Labor Day and then chew her out in public for missing a sort of non-story. Isn't the point of a blog that you can update it when something changes. Glad I don't work at the Stranger, though the high pay must make up for the shitty working conditions.

If he wants to take a trip and prove that it's a success, he needs to loudly announce his plans to arrive, and his itinerary, and go with no more security than he would for any other foreign visit. If he didn't get assassinated, then I'd believe things were going well.

#7- I once read, or heard someone say...I can't remember which.... soldiers are always happy when the President comes to visit because that means they're going to get a good meal instead of the crap they are usually fed. They bring food with them when they come so all the photos are of happy, celebrating soldiers.

@7 & 13

One of my girl friends was a soldier. We've discussed soldier attitudes often.

Most important is that they're indoctrinated with 'following the leader' until they're close to having NO mind of their own.

Second - probably most important - they've put their hearts, souls, minds and bodies at risk for this fucking war. How do you think they'd survive if they didn't convince themselves they were doing the right thing?

That said - I still have a hard time 'supporting the troops' after I see them be so supportive of Shrub...

Dan, it's not news if Bush goes to Iraq, it's only news if he doesn't come back.

What kind of baked out stoner gets their news from the SLOG? Nobody who relies on the morning news here to find out whether or not the space station blew up is going to roll out of bed any earlier than noon.

If your newsies can wake up by 10, they are far ahead of their readers. Let them sleep, you sadist.

Did you see the pics - he's in the middle of the frickin desert - in an area with the second lowest population per hectare in Iraq.

Sheesh. Talk about gullible press ...

Pull The Plug. NOW.
