Charles Mudede, you are the most mystical human being I know. I look forward to your book on the alchemy of politics.

Excellent post, Charles. But, in that context, unfortunately I also agree with @1 & @2. Bill is the unseen white male overseer.

i'm tired of negative space campaign advertisements.

"Because this kind of thinking does not find itself isolated in the head of a dying (or dead) dictator on an impoverished island state, but has serious currency everywhere, including the U.S., it needs to be examined. "

fuck you and your leading statements; "it needs to be examined"?

an authoritarian dictator has ideas about democracy despite never having to actually face it or operate within it. his ideas about winning tickets is null and void.

Best post in a while, Charles. I don't know where in that strange mind of yours you come up with this shit, but this is why I *heart* you.

I would launch into a lecture about trinitarian theology but it's not worth it. Bad analogy, Charles, but interesting thought in the end. If I'd skipped over the middle paragraph, I would call this genius.

Hillary negates Barack’s maleness; Barack negates Hillary’s whiteness ... this sounds like a conservative fundamentalist's worst nightmare

Why can't it be that Obama negates Hilary's race, and She negates his sex.

Maybe your "Holy Ghost" is a black woman.

yeah it fits into thier fear of the blurring of the lines that, to them, define existence; like gender, race, assured moral certainty, and social class...

it is their gray goo; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_goo
that slippery slope away from strict dogma and into the abyss of reality based thinking and life. but hey thats fundies for ya :)

Wow, all I did was read the last sentence of this post, and was like "this has to be a Charles post".

So, I think you definately have refined your style. So instantly recognizable. That is a hard feat for a writer. Bravo.

America is very racist. Electing a woman and a black man to lead America would be the most racist thing that ever happened.

If only America would be come like Israel a secular nation free of religion or racism the world would be a better place.

@28 and 29... Oprah? NO!!
But seriously... isn't it interesting that Michelle Obama isn't mentioned in these comments?
Hmmm...the white male and the black woman who are "there but not there". Bill and Michelle. Now we're onto something.
ooohhhh.....deep.

Normally Mudede's writings are my favorite amongst those of The Stranger's staff, but this one falls short. This post discounts the opinions of all the citizens that support either candidate without regard to their ancestry or sex (the physical aspect different form the social construct of gender, which some may try to argue would make Hillary male). I'm a little disappointed.

aerosol, Charles postulating on the subtext doesn't negate the text. Saying Georgia O'Keefe's flower paintings are really supposed to be labia doesn't negate the views of people who look at those paintings and thing "what beautiful flowers." Both can be right on different levels, can't they?

Oh my Lords, just think of the potential porno spinoffs a Oboma/Clinton presidency will produce?

Big Sven @35,

I agree: it does not negate the text. But the implication is that many US citizens may have duplicated Castro's "logic" does, I feel, by omission of alternatives, discounts those who do not share the need for a white and male president. That's why I used the word "discounts."
