Pity you couldn't have said something when it might have actually made a fucking difference, Greenspan.

Give up, Kucinich. You have no chance. None. There is no shame in quitting, going home, and nutting the shit out of your prize.

“Everyone from the President to my colleagues in the House and Senate who voted for this war have been denying it and scoffing at the notion. Now, the former Fed Chairman corroborates that I’ve been right all along.”

This just sounds like the crazed kook on the streets yelling that the guvmint admitted they sent the aliens to steal his brain.

From that quote, it appears he's more focused on his being right, than on what his being right means. And that's not something I'm looking for in another President.

Socrates had this whole tip he'd go on about how "those that know" were the ones we should listen to. People who, as it were, had been "right about things" are the people we should rely on when making a choice. Whereas, those who were, in the Socratic sense, "incorrect," would not be listened to.

People called Socrates a nut also.

This morning he's saying that take is incorrect. Doesn't sound plausible to me that the fed chair would know why Bush went after Saddam. Were they really afraid he would do again what he did in 1990 when we last capped his ass? I think not. Greenspan is just stating his logical reasons, not the actual ones. IMO.

tsm:

Pity you couldn't have said something when it might have actually made a fucking difference, Greenspan.

Colin Powell had his moment when he showed the true sell-out, kiss-ass yes-man he was, and that was when he gave his weapons of mass destruction speech to the United Nations in support of the Iraq invasion. Very easy for him to repudiate it now. And Alan Greenspan had his same sell-out, kiss-ass yes-man moment when he gave his partisan blessing to Bush's tax cuts for the rich. After eight years of telling the Clinton administration that debt and deficits mattered, suddenly a conservative Republican comes into power and voila! debt and deficits actually don't matter. Very easy for him to repudiate that now too.

The first few years of the Bush administration had this sort of "The emperor has no clothes" quality about it where a lot of powerful people put their own ambitions ahead of calling lunacy for what it was.

Now, about this particular revelation of Greenspan's, about the Iraq War and oil. Well, no kidding.

But when it comes to the fact that the Iraq invasion would never have happened if it weren't for that country's massive oil reserves, I'm afraid the emperor who has no clothes is not so much George W. Bush or the Republican Party or ExxonMobil or some other corporate power. It's the American people. The United States is addicted to cheap oil, which is why, rather than pay more at the pump, we'd prefer to pay more indirectly through the hundreds of billions of dollars the Iraq War is costing and the devastation climate change is beginning to wreak and by putting off the day of reckoning when oil and gas will be unbearably expensive. When the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Charles Schumer talk out of one side of their mouths about global warming and energy independence and the other side of their mouths about how the American people deserve cheap gas, they're telling that naked emperor how lovely their clothes look.

I give Dennis Kucinich credit for having been right about this all along. But not much credit, because there's a world of difference between seriously running for president and running for president as a publicity stunt. I'll give credit to the politician who can make this point and actually do something about it.

Eli, Dennis:

You loony conspiracy theorists are all the same. Everyone knows the United States invaded Iraq to rid them of their weapons of mass destruction, free the people from Saddam, restore order, and create a democracy there. How dare you insult the thousands of dead Americans and hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis by advancing these wild stories? Where did you hear this, on the Internet?

Yeah, why would anyone listen to a champagne socialist, semi-literate faggot like Alan Greenspan.

He's like Gore Vidal in a suit!!

You may now simply refer to him by his America-hating, treason name: "Anbar Al."

Just wait 'till Annie Wagner gets done with him.

The fortunes of those whom hindsight reveals to have been right all along in spite of popular opinion to the contrary tend to fare far worse than the fortunes of those who took a "reasonable" position that over time reveals itself to be dead wrong.

In the court of American public opinion it is better for one's opinions to be seen as commonsensical at the moment than correct at some later date.

Phil M @8 reminds me of another cost the American people seemingly would rather bear than higher prices at the pump, and that's the thousands of lives that have been lost in the Iraq War.

Now, I realize I'm being a bit unfair to the American people when I say this because, I mean, how can the average person who's busy living their own life be versed in the ways in which cheap gas is not so cheap after all?

Oh, and flamingbango @10, excellent point.

I believe Dennis Kucinich will win in 2008. I believe Dennis knows what he is doing and I believe his campaign manager Mike Klein knows what needs to be done to win. The tactics involved with winning will most likely look different and generate responses like this when Dennis tells people he is right. But what the campaign is banking on is that the other candidates won't be right or will flat-out ignore certain issues long enough that Dennis being right will matter. It already matters to me.

By the way, a publicity stunt is a planned event designed to attract the public's attention to the promoters or their causes. Everything the other Democratic candidates do and everything Dennis does is therefore a publicity stunt. So, it does not matter if he is pulling a publicity stunt since that's what all politicians running for office do. What matters is that he has policies Americans care about and truths in his campaign Americans are glad someone is speaking up about.

That said, the rest can only go so long on empty talk and empty promises before the blogosphere catches on to how fake they are. When the word gets out on each one of them (and a lot of reasons to not vote for any of the other candidates have been brought before the people already), then the people will move their feet and elect Dennis.

When the people realize they control the future of our democracy, then the American people will win.

Right now, the mainstream Media has gotem' right where they wantem'.

Hopefully, there will be a sudden knowing, like waking up from the loud crack and boom of thunder, sitting up straight with a jerk, and saying "AHA", "I've got it"!!! "I don't have to be a victim of the Media/Corporate Merry-go-round. I'm gettn' off this ride cuz it's goin' nowhere". At this point, one hopes that they go over and check out Dennis' website and Forum at http://www.dennis4president.com/home
"WOW, Kucinich is not taking corporate money"! Why didn't they tell me this on the ABC news last night?
"WOW, Kucinich will implement Not-for-Profit Healthcare for ALL Americans, and it's FREE!" Why didn't they tell me this on CNN yesterday?"
"WOW, Kucinich has submitted 3 articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney". Not because of partisan politics, but because it is the right thing to do. The Vice President should and must be held accountable for violating our countries highest principals. "Why didn't they tell me that on MSNBC last week?"
"WOW, Kucinich wants to repeal the so-called U.S. Patriot Act to restore our civil rights and civil liberties". "Why didn't I hear that on FOXNews"?
"WOW, Kucinich is the ONLY candidate running who not only voted against the Iraq War Resolution, but has consistently voted against funding the war". Why didn't I hear this on CBS News tonight?
Why didn't NBC tell me that Clinton (and Bill), Obama, Biden, Edwards, Richardson and Dodd, (and all of the Republican candidates except Paul) are all members of The Council on Foreign Relations. Why didn't they tell me that ABC, Dick Cheney, NBC, Paul Wolfowitz, CBS, Madeliene Albright, MSNBC, Bill Clinton, CNN, Gordon Libbey, FOX News, George H.W. Bush, Condoleeza Rice, and AL Gore, among others, ALL have memberships in the Council on Freign Relations?
And what the hell are they doin' over at the CFR anyway? Why are Democratic candidates for President discussing and even implementing domestic, foreign, and global policy behind closed doors, with the NEOCONS, without any oversite from WE THE PEOPLE?
These, and other questions, will hopefully be answered in the minds of the voters before they cast their vote in the upcoming elections.

Dennis Kucinich is the first choice of more Americans than all the other candidates combined, and anybody who buys the corporate media lie that he is a "far left loser" doesn't deserve to live in the land of the free.

Here's the proof:

Dennis Kucinich is probably the only candidate in the two-party system that is honest and intelligent. The rest are all brainwashed by the corporate powers that own them. Dennis' positions are not only more in-sync with the Democratic party base of America, but in fact, his positions are shared by a majority of Americans regardless of political party. Dennis Kucinich is the only person that can get this country out of the mess it has gotten in, and unlike the other politicians right now, he actually follows and believes in the Constitution. Just read the Bill of Rights and try to defend anything that Bush or the Republicans have done.

Very respectfully: How dare you insult the thousands of dead Americans and hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis by spewing such brain washed, disproved misinformation. What will it take to rip you from your denial. We were all lied to and yes, that includes you. Deal with it. I will pray for the return of your sanity sir.
Kucinich is the only candidate who has showed time and time again that he represents the people, not big business like all the others.

none4meplease, my comment was completely tongue-in-cheek. Sorry that was unclear -- if you had participated in related discussions here, you'd know that.

I know we were lied to about Iraq, and I suspect we were lied to about 9/11 (which led us to invade Iraq). People around here are apt to accept the former but ridicule those who suspect the latter.

I'm for Kucinich, Gravel, or Paul.

It is obvious that people have realized for so long that the media has lied to them. It is difficult to believe that this is not a lie too.

Well, if you research what you read, you will find this is true. Dennis Kucinich did say this war was for oil before Greenspan divulged it in his book. It is easier to believe what you read than to believe what you hear.

Go online and do the searches for who voted on what issues. You will find that Kucinich was the only one that voted no on the Iraq war, before the war. Kucinich is the only one that has voted 100% against funding the war.

Kucinich is the only one that is offering Single Payer Not For Profit Health Care, all others are offering insurance coverage or planning on making it mandatory for you to have insurance coverage. If you can't afford health insurance now, how will you afford it when it is mandatory?

Kucinich is the only one that has a 12 step plan to get us out of Iraq.

Kucinich will repeal NAFTA and WTO when elected to the Presidency.

Kucinich stands for World Peace, Universal Health Care, Economic Justice, Civil Liberties, Workers Rights, Reproductive Rights, Environmental Sustainability, Retirement Protection and Education for all.

Go and hear Dennis Kucinich speak in a town near you. Ask him questions. Then make up your mind. Don't let the media mislead you. They are bought and paid for.

If you attack Kucinich, you have not done your research.

Visit www.dennis4president.com and see what he has done, you will vote for him.
