Hmm... that would be interesting. This must be pretty new. At the city council meeting earlier this week, the guy who owns Tabella didn't seem like the type who would sell. He seemed more like he was fighting for his business.

I'm not really a fan of night clubs or churches. Though the only thing more annoying then Christians and hipsters is Christian hipsters.

Great, Jesus Freaks ruining our nightlife in Seattle. Next thing you know they will be pushing a cross on wheels up and down Broadway on a Saturday night.

Cato, you know that would only last until the men pushing the cross got sick of being hit on. ;)

I hate it. It's sneaky. Sneaky bastards, those Mars Hill folks. What happened to the whole "being in the world but not of it" thing? Being a church is one thing. Being a nightclub-gobbling conglomerate is quite another.

omg I heard According To A Source that the discovery institute just bought atlas clothing!

this got me thinking.... if the church becomes a nightclub, and then the nightclub ordinance passes, then will the church will be responsible for the behavior of it's members outside the building?

@8 where else are you going to get your outdated vintage science?

These Christian idiots don't understand Real Estate so I doubt they'll hang onto this building for long. As soon as they miss a mortgage payment someone will get a deal on the place and can turn it into a gay bar or nightclub again perhaps leaving all the Toxic Christian memorabilia in place as a "theme".

So how long until someone sneaks a gun into the new church?

Might want to check out Mars Hill Graduate School, which is wholly unrelated to our local fundie funhouse - a year ago I walked past a sign down on Elliott a block from Tabella that indicated the College was going to/did open a campus. Wires crossed by your source maybe? Or a battle of the Marses Hillses? Can't wait!

I'm smelling a sequel:

"Monastery II: The Second Coming".

Hope the Mars Hill people will be checking ID's at the door carefully or throw their asses in jail.
More than likely Tabella is doing some kind of turnkey arrangement with the former owners where it is technically a church owned by Mars Hill but they have a dance floor, charge a cover charge, play hip-hop and serve holy liquor but do not have to follow Seattle's Nightclub rules.

Yup, Mars Hill Graduate School is open on Elliott. But it has nothing to do with the Christian Hipster church? What a relief!

Yeah actually I know a couple graduates of the Mars Hill grad school and it's a pretty interesting and un-fundie institution. But why would a grad school want to buy a nightclub? Mars Hill CHURCH has tried stuff like this before.

wow. i have given Mars Hill the benefit of the doubt in the past but recently i have had a few people in my life kinda become asses and they all went to that church. So i can no longer ignore the obvious

however them owning tabella maybe it would be one big place to put all their crazy followers? just a thought, lets find some good in this people.

i vote to make it a crazy mars hill church goer establishment only
