Am I the only one who thought they were speculating about bin Laden's sex life at first?

Yep, "As America gets fatter" McDonald's is the same as it ever was. Next punk move? McLiteRib.

Puyallup is serving trans-fat as well. Damn, the StrayCats/Pretenders show happened last week. Who's this week? Oh yeah! That

adorable

band BOAT. If you can't remember singing along to their songs at Nazis in the Park, see em there! They'll be at the Triple Turnstile
next to the orchestra pit.

Remember? to bring your bicycle powered blender for the bartender. S/he'll mix up a Raspberry Diet Dackery for ya.

I've heard pretty reasonable arguments that the bin Laden video could've been faked. I've also heard nobody will mind if I eat these cookies.

damn this town has gotten violent! lots of crap this weekend. come on. where are the cops? stabbings in the middle of the day?? people getting shot in front of restaurants? downtown needs help. FAST. too bad our police chief can't see that. hope all the folks who shell out the cash for those sweet condos downtown don't mind a little blood shed now and again. keeps it real.....

Yeah, c'mon, BRITNEY! Was she on dope? Had she ever heard the song before? Were the dancers behind her really groping titty? Schmader should have been on this one; it was practically Showgirls with a few more square inches of fabric.

Why am I Slogging again? @ newcrackcity: you know as well as I do someone(s) are going to tell you that it is part of being a big city blah blah blah.

But yeah, our cops are stuck in Small Town mode while the streets get more and more out of control. Oh yeah, I had the opportunity to being yelled "Cock Sucking Fag" and "Fudge Packer" on Broadway and John Saturday night.

Time to move to a real progressive city, maybe Chicago or San Fancisco.

Re: Osama bin Laden’s video

It’s refreshing to hear from someone who actually has some credibility on the topic of terrahism.

Now that the terrahists have won, I can say that I will miss our Freedoms™, but I’m totally looking forward to all of the opium and falafel!

3,760 is a sobering number. And what will happen if the US plunges into war with Iran? This is disaster. DISASTER. And what's worse is that I don't know what to do to stop it. Or even if anything *can* be done to stop the devastation. An object at war tends to stay at war...?

@7 Fudge Packer? seriously? Homophobes are boring me to tears with their attempts at insult.

I was on 3rd & Pike/Pine Friday afternoon. Just sayin' and all, but I saw cops in cars, a beat duo, and two cops on horseback.

@12, they are just there to look good, not actually do anything.

Is it just me or has Nickels become our own local version of Bush?

I'm betting the old school SeaHawks weren't being paid enough to participate in that hot piece of shit commercial. How humiliating.

Chicago? Shit, Chicago has real crime. They will bust a cap on your slogging ass! Seattle barely makes 25 murders a year and people are throwing hissy fits claiming were on a crime wave or something. Miami had 380 murders and I think Philly is gonna easily make over 300 this year. Hell, DC is happy to be under 200 and lets not talk about Baltimore. Yes, there is some crime here and it needs to be addressed, and it should not be tolerated, but lets be serious here, this is a safe city for the most part. I would say Seattle has less crime than it did in the late 80's and early 90's.

The Hawks won, the Huskies won, the Ducks won and the Mariners really stunk up a promising season in the last week.

By the way Jonah, that was a funny clip of Manning. Peyton has some good comedic timing.

Cato,

Did Seattle police invade Tacoma last night? Is there a new secret city jail where people are being held without charge? I think I missed some big news that you're aware of.

I'm not pissing myself in fear over the shootings in town, but it seems pretty clear that something has drastically changed in Seattle in the past year. Is there some kind of intergang turf war going on that we aren't privy to?

@17, the same shit was happening last year too. It comes and goes in waves. Blame it on El Nino if it makes you feel better.

Anyone see the PI cover this morning? The Port of Seattle is planning to dump PCB-tainted soil in Elliott Bay to save $1.8 million.

What about this?

"Microsoft giving workers free ride -- with its own bus service. Fed up with commuter delays and an inadequate public transportation system, Microsoft will start its own regional bus system. It's also a way to attract the brightest employees, the company says."

Posted by left coast | September 10, 2007 11:16 AM

Can non-employees use the buses too? Because that would be hilarious. An alternate bus system! Running right alongside Metro...

Does appear so, but if they're eco-conscious they should be picking up people if they find that they have space. Maybe Microsoft will form an alternative gov't for Seattle too, and we can elect another mayor and stop the port from dumping PCBs back into the waters that it's cleaning up.

Mayor McCheese would be doing a better job running this town, although he'd be soft on the transfat issue.

Re: Rabies (I know, the topic nobody's interested in)...

I don't see how that article's projection could be accurate. Up here in Vancouver, Canada, the main source of rabies infection (of people and animals) is rabid bats, of which we have a plethora. How is vaccinating domestic dogs going to help *that*?

The big news today is that as gas prices go up, support for high-speed passenger rail is growing on the West Coast.

It's all about the Global Warming, people.

Now, Dan should have already posted the Superbowl Shuffle in response to the Blue Wave. Never forget your roots.
