Slog Poll Re-Do: Results

posted by on September 21 at 17:03 PM

We asked:

Given the potentially history-making candidacies of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, there’s a lot of talk in Democratic circles these days about what type of leader this country is “ready for.” Do you think America is more ready for a white female president or a black male president?

The results:

(Critics take note: These results are strikingly similar to the results of our earlier, more controversial poll.)

I'd be interested to know the gender breakdown of the responders. Ie., are women more or less likely than men to think that the country is more ready for a woman. . .

I have a headache. I can't make this thought read in a sensible way.

I've heard this class is really good. With a world class institution like UW right here in our city, it's a shame not to take advantage of all the opportunities.

Eli- congratulations on making a less controversial poll- as evidenced by the fact that no one seems to care about its results. At all. Well done.

But I'll try to help you out with the the comment count: this poll clearly shows that Hillary Clinton is popular and electable, will be the next President of the United States, and should when elected should fund the Hwy 99 tunnel as her first act in office.

You're welcome.

No one voted because it's a pointless poll.

Poll: do you prefer black or white beans on the side?

At least this would actually help the local restaurant industry.

Eli, with all respect, the only reason people are voting is within the context of the ENTIRE race.

People may not care because, to quote Republican Newt Gingrich, the Democrats have an 80% chance of winning the 2008 election.

Once the Republicans have a coherent candidate that's getting press, then perhaps the poll would be slightly relevant.

I've been asking people the same question for months now. I think democrats have a false sense of security - that the election is already 'in the bag' and so whoever we put up has already won. There are alot of folks (conservative & not) who still hold ... let's call them "biases". Why not put in some old rich white man just to be somewhat safe?
