Ron Paul Sets His Seattle Schedule

posted by on September 6 at 15:00 PM

Like I’d heard earlier: Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul will be in Seattle on Sept. 14 to try to capitalize on the excitement he’s generated here.

He’ll be giving a speech on the Constitution at Seattle University and holding a rally at the Lake Union Naval Reserve Gym.

He’ll also be holding some fundraisers: A $200-a-plate lunch with supporters, a $2,000-per-person “briefing” on his campaign at a private home, and a $1,000-per-person reception at the Lake Union Naval Reserve.

Thanks for the note Eli. I\'ll probably be at the Constitution talk at Seattle University. Hope to see you all there!

Is this Ron Paul thing a running joke, like on Letterman, where he does the same bit for ten years in the theory that eventually someone will laugh out of familiarity/pity?

I'd really love the opportunity to get a get a briefing on his campaign but I'd rather, you know, not flush two grand down the toilet.

Why are people ignoring the fact that the guy stands for abolishing the Department of Education, Department of Health & Human Services, etc.? I mean the Ron Paul I see (http://www.2decide.com/table.htm) seems bizarrely antithetical to everything much of Seattle believes ... is it all 'cause of his views on marriage and marijuana? Are those really the most important issues facing America as far as Seattle is concerned?

I'll be there supporting Ron Paul all the way. He's our only hope to save the nation!

Be sure to let us all know what LaRouche is up to as well. His culties will probably be happy to set up a $.20/person "briefing."

Ben: OMG those are the only issues, and here I thought Ron Paul was against the War in Iraq and the Patriot act. Is that important enough for you? Here's an idea think before you type.

So long as he doesn't shut down I-5 and 90 like that other Republicant did.

Charlie: Thanks. Good call.
You are correct. Mr. Paul apparently opposes the war and the Patriot Act.

Also opposes abortion rights, gun control in any way shape or form, most immigration, any regulation of a minimum wage, and any government-sponsored healthcare.

Next time I'll think harder before typing.

Thanks for the info. Now I know where not to be on 9/14.

@6, becasue a certain segment of the population is comprised of mildly retarded, easily lead morons, who will follow any charlatan who tells them what they want to hear.

The only reason, and I mean ONLY reason to support Paul is that he would be the first gay republican presidential nominee.

I believe that regardless of Paul's personal feelings about those things, he believes that it is unconsitutional for the federal government to have a hand in them. He thinks they should be left up to states. He's running for federal office, not state.

It seems that we've all come to accept a much heavier-handed federal government than the framers of the United States Constitution laid out.

Damn right, and for good reason. That kind of states rights prattle might have worked well for slave based agrarian aristocracy, but it tends to fail in a modern, industrial quasi-democracy. I'll take this society and government over that one any day of the week.

This whole founder worship is kind of silly. Yes they had some good ideas and the constitution is a great document, but those ideas must rise and fall on their own accord not solely on the basis of being attributable to founding fathers.

Giffy you have some good points. Are you suggesting that we ammend the United States Constitution, or that we simply disregard it?

Retards always flock around the most confident retard. Hence, Ron Paul. And Ronald Reagan. And George W. Bush...

It's been a great era for the retards. Their people have really been ascendant.

Phil, I'm suggesting we keep doing what we have always done. Reinterpret when possible, amend when necessary.

We have gotten along just fine with an understanding that the constitution allows for exactly the kind of federal power we have now. Wedding ourselves to antiquated meanings, the interpretations of some of its authors, or other such historical anachronisms is not a good idea.

The constitution works best when it is seen as expressing principles, not static law. For example the constitution is rather silent on wiretapping, expression beyond speech, or the right to contraceptives. However b looking ot the general principles embodied in the constitution we arrive at these. Of course this generally requires good, or at least restrained, people in power, but absent this condition president, a scrap of paper is not going to do much good.

You mean Seattle Democrats? I don't think they'll be at any of the Ron Paul events. Oh, and Ben@6, could you please list say, five things that the Department of Education has done since it's creation to improve American education? Seriously, what has it done? Jimmy Carter created the Department of Education as a cabinet department in 1979 because he wanted to get support from the teacher's unions. Are Americans any more literate now than they were in 1979? Are they better at math and science than they were in 1979? Face facts, the Department of Education has had about as much influence on making Americans better educated as abstinence education has on making Americans more abstinent or DARE has on making Americans less likely to do drugs.

American liberals mindlessly accept the existence of and the need for the Department of Education just as American conservatives mindlessly accept the existence of and the need for the War on Drugs.

Of course when it comes to actually sending their children to public schools many prominent liberals (Bill and Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore) instead send their children to exclusive, largely white private schools. Prominent liberals have the same attitude about public schools for their children as prominent conservatives do about military service for their children, it's something that the little people do, but it's not for them.

Ron Paul is not a conservative, he is a Libertarian. America has been less free for decades. Check out the Solari Action Network. Check out Imperium Biodiesel. Solari and Imperium are from the book Dune. Read it. Because we are living it. Check out "National Oil Free" day. Stop making the rich richer. Start with a national Free Information Network. Stop paying Paul Allen for the net. Start with personal energy independence. Start with personal financial freedom. Democrats and Socialists are worse than radical facist Muslim terrorists because they too blindly belive what they say, and they are in our midst. They are the enemy within.

It is not the whole story to say that Ron Paul opposes abortion, gun control and immigration. What people need to realize and remember is that he believes wholly in our constitution, which means smaller government. To that end, even though those are his personal ideas, he believes control of those issues should be left up to the states. He has clearly stated that the federal government has no right or responsibility to control those type of issues. When the feds stick their nose into social issues, we lose freedom. I urge anyone, liberal and/or conservative to check out his voting record especially when it pertains to preserving freedom for America and the integrity of the constitution.

ron paul wasnt against the war in iraq in general, he opposes it because war was never voted on or declared by congress. which is pretty much a war crime against pres. bush, never the less, he firmly believes no one is above the law not even the president, nor is he against gun rights or abortion. see iowa straw pole speech he made and do some homework. you will find this man is extremely intellegent and has probably forgotten more than the other candidates will ever know!! he is a true american the others will surely sell us out!! aka where are all the jobs? go ron paul!!!!

Those who refuse to recognize the infringement of the rights of others will discover their own rights discarded in their moment of need.

If you need Socialism, please move to a Socialist country; their are many to choose from. Do not attempt to further our decline here in America.

Or, How About you can help get Ron Paul Elected and Feel Free To Enslave Your Own State after he sends the power back to the people.

The amount of Taxes, Licenses, and Fees we pay now is spent without benefit. Try running a Biz and you will understand that as employees you are sheltered from the Vast Amount of Paperwork and Tax Matching.

You do not have to go to extreme ends or Wild Conspiracy to see that Things Are Not Right.

Help Throw Off The Yoke Of Federal Government => Help Elect Ron Paul. There Will Be No Change With Any Other.

Russia did not make their Nukes Evaporate. Their Desperation has heightened in the past weeks. Iran and Russia have a Mutual Defense Treaty between them. When they feel their is no hope against the Might of America our world will change.

Ron Paul is a true statesman and patriot.

I can't believe how some critics of Ron Paul's campaign see the Constitution as an "antiquated piece of paper" and believe that people who honor the principles of our republic are "out of touch."

Continue shuffling towards your global slave state, you "liberals" and "conservatives." I will be supporting the one candidate who truly loves freedom and honors our nation by supporting and championing the law of the land, the United States Constitution.

Ron Paul for President!

Check out his ratings by various organizations: NARAL 75% approval, ACLU 55-67%, People for the American Way 40%, AFA-American Family Association 33%, Family Research Institute 58-75%, Right to Life 56%, CWA-Concerned Women of America 62%, Arab American Institute 100%, CAIR-Council American Islamic Relations 100%.
He is loved by both those who favor abortion and those who are against it (NARAL and Right to Life), the others listed are a mix of left and right organizations, too.

REAL conservatives LOVE him, because he embodies their values -- Constitutionalism and individual responsibility, and REAL liberals love him as well, because he embodies their values too -- Constitutionalism and freedom for all.

Libertarians are the true "classical liberals", Jeffersonians. Today's "liberals" are far from true liberals, instead they are socialist authoritarians bordering on communism; today's "conservatives" are far from true conservatives, instead they are religious authoritarians bordering on fascism.

Ron Paul is one of the very few members of congress who has ever tried to help me do anything on Capital hill, and I've never been one of his constituents. He's the only member of congress who receives grass roots donations from people in all 50 states and that should tell you something. He is a true man of the people, and he refuses to accept PAC donations from multinational corporate interests. Our country is being intentionally deconstructed and we're being forced into a North American Union dictatorship. Ron Paul is our only hope to defend American sovereignty.
