Richardson on Iowa’s Divine Right

posted by on September 4 at 9:30 AM

New Mexico governor Bill Richardson, who Kos is now calling “the buffoon of this campaign,” recently said this about Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses:

Iowa, for good reason, for constitutional reasons, for reasons related to the Lord, should be the first caucus and primary.

Got that? The Lord made Iowa first. Don’t question.

I was there with God at a recent BBQ, and he said he made Texas first, actually.

Then he realized he'd messed up and did Iowa.

It's only the later states that are perfect.

The Good Lord giveth (Iowa gets first primary) and He taketh away (fucked-up Iowa politics, voter fraud, general asshattery). It's all part of the marvelous divine plan.

And the LORD declared New Hampshire shall second bestest. And it was good.

Shoeless Joe Jackson: Is this heaven?
Ray Kinsella: No, it's Iowa.

He is certian Iowa should be first (by constitutional mandate apparently) but he is not sure if being Gay is a choice or not????

Are we sure he is not a GOP plant in the party?

God, I really supported this man. I gave him ten bucks, which was all I could afford, and now I don't even think he's VP material. I can appreciate him shooting his mouth off, provided he's saying, "Huh, I'd have to think about this more later, but this might be a good policy idea," but when he does this bullshit, it's just too much. Now I gotta send twenty bucks to Obama.

I don't know why Richardson has imploded. In NM, he did a pretty decent job overall, but it's like he's been hit in the head by a boxer and is punch drunk. He needs new handlers and even then this thing can't be saved. He should hope for a new ambassadorial role, or as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Something.

Like Gital, I originally leaned towards Richardson. Not anymore.
